johnmell
Hi, Am staying in Bangkok first week in July, and am interested in a day trip to the River Kwai bridge, museum, cemetry etc. Seems to be alot of companies doing this. Basically dont want to go in a minivan, but an air conditioned coach.Has anyone been on one of these, and can reccomend a good one. Many thanks. ukrules
Personally I would just get a taxi, shouldn't be more than 1000-1500 Baht then move around locally using local transportation while you're there. If you're doing it as a day trip then keep the driver for the day.
tomwct
My first trip there 30 years ago was a wonderful experience and an opportunity to meet some very nice Thai people. On Saturday mornings there is a Tourist train leaving about 6AM on a one day round trip from Main train station in Bangkok. The train was not air conditioned, but in the mornings no problem. The trip returned about 7PM and it was very cheap about 75 baht in those days. A few years ago they were still offering this excursion, but still only on Saturday mornings. Go and enjoy! Also, this included lunch in the jungle. We ate monkey soup and the monkeys were outside the restaurant in cages because there was no refrigeration then. Maybe now, but quite an experience then. hathairat2711
Experienced a day trip last year to Kanchanaburi. AC buses leave the Southern bus terminal every twenty minutes and cost approx B100 for a 2hr drive. Once there, you can hire a taxi for for the day (negotiable) to visit the bridge, museum and war cemetery. Well worth the trip. Enjoy.
Razzler1973
Just get the bus, early morning, arrive early, rent a motorcycle or something when there
Lancashirelad
I would suggest a private driver may suit best, searching Google for such as "Bangkok private driver" will find plenty of reading.
