8-kilogram ovarian cyst removed from Laotian woman

 

NONG KHAI, 17 May 2017 (NNT) - An 8-kilogram ovarian cyst has been successfully removed from a 45-year old Laotian woman. 

According to Dr. Sudina Phana, a gynecologist at Nong Khai Hospital, a Laotian woman came to the hospital after she thought she was suffering from obesity. After a medical examination, it was found that underneath her large abdomen was in fact a gigantic ovarian cyst. 

Luckily for the woman, the cyst was not cancerous, a blood test showed. The removal of the cyst has been successful, the doctor added. 

Dr. Sudina also urged women aged 21 years old and above to visit a gynecologist on a regular basis.

When asked how long she had the problem, the cyst said "About a year ago I noticed this wart on my backside".
