About 350 tonnes of the insecticide Abate have been distributed across the country to kill the mosquitos which cause dengue fever. The insecticide went out on Friday of last week to be put in water jars to kill larvae.

In the first three months of this year, there were 510 cases of dengue fever, a fall of 62 percent on the same period last year, the National Centre for Parasitology, Entomology and Malaria Control reported.

The centre said the incidence was 3.1 out of 100,000 people. There had been no fatality this year. Abate is distributed twice yearly: before the rainy season, after Khmer New Year, and between August and September.
