Tourism in Surat Thani is still lively albeit high waves and strong winds

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Southern Office, Region 5, indicated that strong waves and winds have not affected tourism in Surat Thani province. Almost 90 percent of hotel rooms in the province have been booked for the New Year holidays. Most of them have been reserved by foreign tourists who plan to take a vacation in the islands of Samui and Pha Ngan.

TAT Southern Office, Region 5, director Pramote Subyen said strong waves and winds have not hampered tourism in famous destinations in Surat Thani such as Samui Island, Pha Ngan Island, Tao Island, and a group of Ang Thong Islands. Nevertheless, security officials are taking care of tourists, and red flags have been planted on risky coastal areas. In addition, about 500 police and volunteers are overseeing the tourist destinations in Surat Thani around the clock.

Mr. Pramote said most Thai tourists prefer to travel around the mainland in the provinces of Surat Thani, Chumphon, and Ranong.

:o Sometimes Thai have a sense of humor

LP

Mr. Pramote said most Thai tourists prefer to travel around the mainland in the provinces of Surat Thani, Chumphon, and Ranong.

most surprised to read that the thais are ignoring the reasonable prices , friendly welcome and good value to be had on samui.

Actually, the fact of the matter is that when too many Thai tourists come to the islands the traffic is a horrendous nightmare as they all insist on bringing their vehicles.

For my part, they are welcome to stay on the mainland.
