By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The body of a 19-year-old engineering student was found on the ground floor outside the Esplanade shopping mall in Nonthaburi on Monday morning, police said.

The student, Chatbodin Meeprasert, was later seen on a security camera recording opening a fire exit on the sixth floor of the mall. But the footage did not show how he fell.

His body was found on a side of the mall at 3.40am.

Nanthakul Ammares, who works at a fast-food shop in the mall, told police that she rode her motorcycle past the spot at 3.15 am and did not see any body but when she returned at 3.40 am she found the student lying dead.

The teenager was a second-year student of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, studying in the Faculty of Engineering.

NONTHABURI: -- Police are investigating the death of a 19 year old second year engineering student found dead in a pool of blood outside a department store in Bang Krasor sub-district of Nonthaburi.

Ratanathibet police were called after a staff member at Macdonald's found the body of a man named as Chatbadin. The staff member said they had left Macdonald's at 3.15 am Monday morning to go to a convenience store - when they returned at 3.40am they found the body.

The victim was clothed in black shirt and jeans but had no shoes. He had a broken right foot and right wrist and blunt force trauma to the left side of the waist.

CCTV footage from the sixth floor - the movie floor - of the department store earlier showed him exiting that area via a fire door.

Police are not yet saying that he jumped and have not ruled out that another person may be involved.

They have called in relatives and are interviewing the staff at the department store before coming to any conclusions.
