Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha told Thais that if they want security in the country they must expect less personal freedom

The head of the military government was speaking in his Friday address on television.

He said for the government to maintain security Thais had to give up some of the things that they took for granted.

In a wide ranging set of observations the PM also spoke directly about the Lese Majeste law warning people not to share or spread illegal
content.

He stated that the "institution" was unable to protect itself and laws were needed to protect it and these must be followed.

He also told Thais not to denigrate the country that would only have the effect of causing people outside the country to follow suit.

And he asked for help and understanding in the government's  push to increase cyber security.

The prime minister was speaking after a week that saw the bombing of a military hospital in Bangkok on Monday when dozens were injured in a waiting room.
