kayo
For sheer acting/directing skills: Departed Prestige Queen Mum's movie Inside Man (best heist movie in 15 years or more (not including heat)) For sheer Joy to Watch: Borat Casino Royale (Bond Begins) Movies I've not yet seen but look fwd to: Both Clooney's (Syriana/Good Luck...) Rocky Balboa Capote and Since I saw that irish dude in inside man, I wanna see him in children of Men. Thought he was a huge talent. (and one or two others) Movie's I've not seen, and don't care to: Pretty much everything else.

calibanjr.
My previous post I just kept to movies I'd seen the cinema here in CM. As to others: For sheer acting/directing skills:Departed Prestige Queen Mum's movie Inside Man (best heist movie in 15 years or more (not including heat)) I agree. Really well done, definitely not Spike Lee's usual style and/or subject. Good pacing, acting, script, just about everything. For sheer Joy to Watch: Borat Casino Royale (Bond Begins) Movies I've not yet seen but look fwd to: Both Clooney's (Syriana/Good Luck...) Agree, both were not standard Hollywood fare, thoughtful, deep, to the point of being ponderous. Both important films. I have growing respect for Clooney's choice of films, given the fact that he can probably be in any amount of inane Hollywood mainstream crap he chooses. Rocky Balboa Capote and Since I saw that irish dude in inside man, I wanna see him in children of Men. Thought he was a huge talent. Think Clive Owen is English, no biggie (and one or two others) Movie's I've not seen, and don't care to: Pretty much everything else.

Plus
I can't believe it - four pages and no one mentioned Snakes on a plane with Samuel L. Jackson?!? The beauty of this masterpiece is that you don't even need to watch it - just close your eyes and meditate on the name. The movie will reveal itself. Three Burials of Menguel (sp?) Estrada by Tommy Lee Jones is also quite good. I've been searching for movies to download lately and I found quite a few interesting items in this thread. Finansjohan
Really enjoyed "Stranger than fiction", but perhaps that is a movie for 2007? Otherwise, votes for "Casino Royale" and "The Departed", good solid movie entertainment.

Plus
I've finally watched Blood Diamond and I was really disappointed - I couldn't stand Di Caprio's pathetic attempts at foreign accent, sometimes it was there, sometimes wasn't, and no matter what he says, he looks American anyway. Besides the movie had the cheeseest line of the decade: "It's TIA - This Is AFRICA", and it was delivered at the expat bar, of course. It could only be matched by a newbie response: "This place is gonna explode". I almost puked, literally. When they arrived at a refugee camp with one million people inside it took Solomon less than 30 seconds to locate his missing wife just by looking over the fence. How credible is that? I know this is not a movie critics thread, sorry. I think "Inconvenient Truth" starring Al Gore was brilliant and really drilled the point home. There must be something wrong with his numbers, it's too perfect otherwise. On the animation front the year was disappointing - lots of average titles recycling old stuff. They need something fresh, something totally knew. CGI animation already looks as stale as those endless Disney movies where you'd never notice you finished one and started another. jEFFREYk44
United 93 is the best movie in my book for this year It made me cry even i know there are several conspiracy theories of it. It was a great movie as all actors were basically amatuers and was unscripted and filmed in almost real time, the best was recognizing the things the people did
