Quick questions about how to show 20,000 baht - do they need to see it in cash or is a copy of an English Bank Account (currency £) sufficient?

Here are the requirements.

 DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

  • Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months
  • Visa application form completely filled out
  • Recent( 4 x 6 cm.) photograph (s) of the applicant
  • Evidence of travel (air/bus ticket to and from Thailand)
  • Evidence of adequate finance (20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family)

Not in cash - an account-statement is used when applying for a visa at consulates that require proving finances.

OTOH, at the immigration-checkpoint into Thailand, they may ask to see 20K Baht in cash only (can be in another currency).  The probability of being asked to show this varies by checkpoint and your immigration history.

The above post is correct. They may not ask for the financial proof. If they do, almost anything clearly not faked that they can put in their records will do. An old bank statement with my name and a recent ATM slip from the same account has worked for me.

As stated, cash or travelers checks is no good, because they cannot put those in their files. It is irritating that the consulate needs anything but cash and immigration only cash.
