Crossy Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Anyone using an Android emulator other than Bluestacks? Experiences? Speed? Bluestacks works quite well but despite throwing PC resources at it the experience is nothing like the tablet sitting next to the PC on the same network. And yes, the app in question is not available for the PC. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
janclaes47 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Bluestacks is the best of the worst. No emulator will give you the same experience as an Android device, in fact they will give you more headaches then advantages. Why not connect the tablet to your PC monitor?
Crossy Posted June 12, 2017 Author Posted June 12, 2017 Yeah, I'm rapidly coming to that conclusion. I'd really like an integrated solution, I want to run the android app in a window until something interesting happens (like a test wicket) then I can zoom and watch the replay. All the time still earning a crust on the other screens. Tried Android in a VirtualBox VM, even worse performance. Sitting the tab next to the PC doesn't really work the same even with the audio through a decent speaker. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Crossy Posted June 12, 2017 Author Posted June 12, 2017 Andyroid seems to work well too https://www.andyroid.net/ "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
KhunHeineken Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Currently using XePlayer with no complaints. I'm not a heavy user, but everything I need it to do, it does. http://www.xeplayer.com/
Stocky Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 I use Andyroid , I got hacked off with Bluestacks asking I install apps I don't want.
dddave Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 I sort of scanned an article in the press a few days ago to the effect that Microsoft has issued a very strong policy statement that it intends to aggressively defend it's X86 architecture against Android emulation. Sorry I don't recall the specifics but details should be easy to find.
rawhod Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Andyroid was OK but wanted to take over my computer I now use Droid4x which is fast and easy to use...
katana Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 When I tried Bluestacks a few years ago I found it dragged my computer to a crawl and seemed to have about 57 different running process using up resources. Quickly got rid of it.
janclaes47 Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 Not familiar with dual boot, but may be worth taking a look at these. https://www.lifewire.com/create-android-usb-drive-2202053 https://www.lifewire.com/create-android-usb-drive-2202053

rawhod Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 Cleanly installed on my Win 8.1 64 no malware. Excellent Android emulator IMHO.
