TWO Nigerians were yesterday jailed for 30 years each for their role in trafficking nearly half a kilo of crystal methamphetamine in Phnom Penh. Paul Efflong Dni Frefe and Ime Johan Udon, both 28, were arrested after Interior Ministry anti-drug police raided their rented house in the city’s Chamkarmon district in June last year.

Police seized 450 grams of the drug, scales and other drug-related material.   Phnom Penh Municipal Court judge Top Chhunheng also fined them 80 million riel ($20,000) each. They will serve their terms in Prey Sar prison.

A just fate for the traffickers of death and destruction, no sympathy.

I pose the question is 30 years in a Thai jail a cruel and inhuman punishment?

Should they not be given a death sentence out of pity?
