BANGKOK: -- Police are to seek arrests warrants for a 62-year-old man who has been arrested over the Phramongkutklao Hospital bomb attack and several other recent explosions.

Deputy Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Srivara Ransibrahmanakul said they will ask the court on Friday to approve arrest warrants against “Wattana”, a former electrical engineer at the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, who was arrested Thursday.

Srivara said the warrants were being sought in connection with explosions in front of the old head office of the Government Lottery Office on Rajdamnone road and in front of the National Theatre.

The warrants also cover several bomb attacks in 2007, including explosions in front of Major Ratchayothin shopping mall, on Soi Rajvithi 24, and in front of the Royal Thai Army headquarters, Srivara added.

He said scientific evidence and the suspect's confession would be presented to the court.
