The past is the past - it is the present that is really sh!t and getting even more sh!t by the day, all thanks to Tory greed and corruption. Our country has been on the wrong tracks for decades. We need to try something different, something that works for the many, not the corrupt few.

The past is the past - so let's all refuse to learn from it and believe Labor's new mantra - governing for the many not the few.

And do tell us, what dynamic innovative new plans do Labor have - apart from re-nationalizing the railways, a land tax for all home owners, and of course screwing businesses with higher corporation tax and more red tape?

Were did I say Thatcherism has benefited us all? I said, factually, that the union dominated socialist governments just prior to Thatcher (and the incompetent Heath one for that matter) led to a scenario of high inflation, 3 day working weeks for many, power cuts, and to the UK being labelled the sick man of Europe. That the UK electorate reacted to that appalling mismanagement by electing, and re-electing Thatcher. And, she did sort out a lot of the issues, albeit with some very painful medicine. I also said that unfortunately she didn't know when or couldn't stop, and therefore went far to far the other way.

There is nothing abstract about the current Corbyn and his senior team of very left wing, including marxists.

We all get you hate Thatcher and want an independent Scotland. But don't let your jaundice view pretend that the current Labor party are something they're not.

Your muddling of contemporary politics with those of a lifetime ago is disingenuous, much as is your muddying of the waters by bringing in the OT subject of Scottish independence. As for Thatcher, I don't hate the person, just the ideology of greed.

I will repeat my question for the last time (because nobody has been able to say why - and I doubt they can because nobody wants to admit the truth) - why are things so hideously bad in just about every area of civic life in the UK? We shore up league tables in all measures of social progress and equality - that is not the doing of those lefties that you despise so much.

And everything else I said was completely wrong? You mention mainly facts and then your opinion.  I mention in my original post mainly facts, I then give my opinion.  Oh and thanks for the geography affirmation ?...but tbh I did have to google it ?

Go on treat yourself. Google Holland and Netherlands and see how most Brits misunderstand that too

Interesting to see how long May and this government last though. Some pundits were predicting another election by year end, one even going for October.

Somehow, you get the idea that this isn't going to end well!

How very PC of you! Let's not discuss the history and evolution of politics, past performance and doctrines. After all, the socialist ones failed miserable before and they haven't got any new ideas by the look of it. So we'll call it social ownership rather than nationalizations and not put income tax up but screw all home owners with a "land appreciation tax" Yeah for the PR boys.

Seeing as you don't want to discuss the past, and leave the past in the past, that might explain why no ones bothering to answer your question.

So let's look forward. Only forward. So I'll repeat my unanswered question " what dynamic innovative new plans do Labor have - apart from re-nationalizing the railways, a land tax for all home owners, and of course screwing businesses with higher corporation tax and more red tape?"

Well, for one thing, they might be taxes back to where they were a few years ago so the NHS wouldn't be starved for funds.

So what I understand from your posts is that you think that we are on the right track, and that things now are better than they ever have been? I am certainly not ignoring history, but the history of the last 40 years tells me that something is going terribly wrong in our country and with our democracy. Complain all you want about a crowd of long dead politicians, but it is the ones we have to endure now who are doing the damage the country and our people.

It's always the way of the right to rely on unsubstantiated blanket statements in lieu of facts and arguments

Am I seeing this the right way .     TM releases 1 billion pounds of public money to the DUC in order to secure her parties  political  clout and avoid a hung parliament  along with the possibility of another election  . Surely this money should be coming from the tory party funds , not that they would have that much .
