BANGKOK, 11 July 2017 (NNT) – A spokesman for the Royal Thai Army has affirmed that the force is always open to change and adaptation and welcomes the opinions of the public so that it may tailor its work towards the interests of the nation.

Royal Thai Army Spokesman Col Winthai Suwaree has responded to a call by academics for the army to undergo reform like police by saying that the force is always changing and modifying both its military and non-military missions, especially in the realm of national development and public assistance.

He said that while many army operations during peace time may not be apparent to civilians, they are always being reviewed and revamped for greater efficacy and in line with the needs of the Kingdom.

Col Winthai went on to say that the army is always open to the reasonable comments of the public but cannot act only according to any one group as such single-mindedness could be construed as political. He also acknowledged that some of the army’s work could draw the ire of certain groups while saying that all personnel will continue to strengthen relations with the public and further improve for the country.

No they aren't. End of.

I am sure they are interested in peoples opinions, so much so, that if you come forward they may ask you to stay for several days (at an undisclosed location) to explain further.

How about getting out of politics?

See the silly smile on his face?

That alone tells you, we want your opinions, but we will not take any notice of them.

We do things our way, ok.

here is an opinion.

the entire Thai military only job should be to pick up all the trash in Thailand.

Such as military coups to protect the power of the autocracy.

But one must admit that after abolishing about a dozen of its own written constitutions since 1932, the military has become very efficient in creating a national democratic facade following each coup.

Pulling a coup, removing a democratically elected government by force of arms", enacting laws to protect the perpetrators and the ïnterests of the nation. A marvellous trifecta in PR schmoozing.

The military authorities sincerely want Thais to believe that is exactly what they achieved when they pulled their coup. It seems to be their main selling point.despite how ludicrous such a proposition might be. Brainwashing is a marvellous PR tool.

I see stupid haircuts have been ordered......do you get tortured for not obeying?

Yes we the military would love to see and read about your opinions. Please send them to

Royal Thai Army spokesman Col Winthai Suwaree.
