30 day "under consideration" period

Featured Replies

Greetings,

I will shortly be applying for a 12 month visa extension of Non-O marriage visa. I am currently on the last permission of stay stamp which expires mid-next month (currently on a 12 month Non-O multi-re-entry that I obtained in Laos) so I can't leave the country again presently. My question is: once I've gone through the process at CW (I've done it before as I was previously on 12 month extensions), I need to leave the country for a couple of days on business that will most likely happen during the 30 day "under consideration" period. Will I be able to do this without messing up the extension process if I simply apply for a single re-entry permit at the time I need to travel? Or I am required to be present in Thailand during that whole 30 day period?

Thanks in advance for your assistance and my apologies if this question has been asked (possible many times!) previously but I keep an eye on this forum and don't think I've seen this issue come up recently.

Cheers.

You can get a re-entry permit that will keep the 30 day reporting date valid when you re-enter the country.

Many thanks Ubonjoe. That's what I was hoping to hear!

Different question in relation to the 30 days under consideration

Next week I have to extend my non Immigrant type B visa hopefully by one year. Due to procedure I am aware that I will (might) get approval first with 30 days under consideration. Unfortunately I also will leave next week for Europe and USA in total about one month which make the 30 days deadline pretty tight to meet. Question: has anybody experience if the Immigration at CW will consider an extention of the days - let's say to be 40 days under consideration?

Any answer is highly appreciated as I do not want mto waste time getting 30 days and not being able to make it back in time.

Many thanks in advance.

They cannot do a under consideration stamp with a report back date more than 30 days from your current permit to stay date according to the police order. Most offices start the 30 days from the date you apply. If they did it from your permit to stay date you might have more time for your trip.

Thanks a lot ubonjoe - seems I need to apply for a new 3 month non-Immigrant type B with single entry in my country as the 30 days under consideration is too tight.

Apologize for being ignorant but I have some more queries:

1. once I have the extension for 30 days under consideration - do I need to show up in person or can I sent a messanger or use a service?

2. could you recommend a Service Company doing this job for me?

3. 3 month ago I was waiting for more than 7 hours in CW until it was my turn... and one paper was missing! Is there any Chance for an "express Service" in CW M section? (PM)

Thanks again for your advise.

1. You might be able to authorize somebody to it for you.

2. I am not aware of any.

3. Not that I am aware of.

Thanks a lot ubonjoe!

sorry for being a pest but I have another question and it seems that you are really familiar with These visa issues. If I come back to Thailand with a new 3 month non-Immigrant type B single entry, they stamp this visa at Immigration in the Airport as "used". Can I apply with this "used" visa for a re-entry? If yes, any experience about this process in the Airport on my next departure day? Where is it in the Airport? At passport control? I want to avoid a journey to CW. Thanks again!

You can get a re-entry permit that will keep the remainder of the 90 day entry valid when you re-enter the country. The visa being used makes no difference since it is issued for the permit to stay the visa allowed.

You can get a re-entry permit at either airport in Bangkok 24 hours a day.

At BKK is after security just before the departure immigration desks in departure zone 2.

At DMK it is just after departure immigration.

Thanks Ubonjoe,

so sorry for my persistence but I never had to deal with those issues before.

You write: "when you re-entry the Country", however, I understood I need to apply for that re-entry "when I leave the Country" - is that correct? And about the location of that Office, well I usually have the luck to use the fast lanes so I presume it is after the Immigration desk. Will check with them directly.

So sorry again to bother you with my stupid queries and have to thank you again.

You apply for the re-entry permit before leaving the country. You use it when entering the country to get stamped in to the date your  90 day entry ends.

Where the re-entry permit desk is located depends upon which airport you use. At BKK airport it is before departure immigration at DMK it after the desks.

If using fast track at BKK it is izone 1 departure immigration and the re-entry permit desk is located at zone 2.

super - thank you so much.
