Why Leave Home For Thailand?

What I don't want to see is a woman who thought a career in the fire service would be "kool" because one of her mates is a plumber. Who on ending her shift goes with the rest of the ladies in sensible shoes ( can't call 'em lesbians any more) to lessons in interperative dance

O.K. O.K. What I want to see at the top of the ladder is a 16 stone woman who plays rugby and does weightlifting in her spare time just before she goes off with her mates to lessons in interperative dance in of course sensible shoes.

On second thought perhaps I should stick to bungalows.

Am looking forward to leaving the US in a couple years because of the path the US is heading down. The decline of Western civilization is certainly upon us. Nobody I come into contact with in the US has something as simple as decent manners anymore. Its turned into a selfish, free-for-all, and me-first way of life here and i'm sick of it.

i feel the same way sort of.it seems so regulated here..simply no fun.

Miss Reid, 31, recalled how she broke down in tears when her bosses told her she was too small to do the job and was being removed from active service. She is suing East Sussex Fire Authority for sexual discrimination, demanding that equipment be modified to allow her to do the job.

The brigade claims that, if Miss Reid gets her way, a redesigned fire engine will have to be ordered with the longest ladders mounted underneath - at a cost of £140,000.

Unfortunately this is not the case as the East Sussex Fire Authority will have to buy at least two fire trucks in case one breaks down.

Why not approach this dilemma from a different angle? just pay her to stay at home probably would be cheaper.

Don't you just love it? Made my day.

I was going through a messy divorce and came out to see my son( who went back packing three years ago and never got any further than LOS, ) for some R&R liked it so much I came back again at Christmas which is when i met my current GF, he took to to Chaingmai and Ko Sumui and I loved it,  not only that but the girl I'm with does not try to kill me every time she gets drunk (as she dont drink!) Managed my buisness long distance for nine months last year and the start of this until I decided I could not take it anymore, hated it more and more every time I went back, so I sold up and am having a house built in CM in which we intend to spend the rest of our lives sniffing from the trough I made, I think it was the best thing I ever did, and come July I will be fortunate enough to have all my three sons here at the same time, I LOVE it, (well most of it -could go on but won't)

I could not afford to retire in the UK at 50, I would be back to work at 55!!

Happy--you bet :D

Whatever you wanted to say, you are fast integrating with Thai culture.

You already write like them, all the words together.

At least you still leave some space in between the words.

On your way,... :D:D

Bluecat, pity you could not bring something worthwhile to the forum instead of popping at me, in any case it went right over my head, if you dont wear glasses, you need to, or did you read it when you were pissed and all the words looked joined up? As a memeber of your staus, i would have thought you would have known better :o

They are also much more entertaining at putting out fire than their counterparts in the U.K.

The firefighters there do an excellent job at fires, RTAs rescuing cats from up a trees

etc.

The Keystone cops approach is much to be admired, efficient it most certainly is not but absolutely hilarious (providing of course you are not in the builing that's on fire at the time).

I should think there would be many hours of you've been framed types of video here.

I can just see the avert for firefighters here "No experience neccesary but a good sense of humour is"

Stroll : The rats are leaving the sinking ship...

Myself I don't feel like I left anyplace, more like I arrived where I want to be. With internet, world market etc. one has a choice where to position oneself in the world community, and Thailand is the most pleasant place I know.

I think hat was a very good way of putting it, just the way I feel, I just couldn't find the right words to write it, you did it for me :o

I left Oz for a 10 week music contract in Taiwan, that was 8 years ago and I am still here. I love Australia but I can see we are heading down a '0ne way track with no way back' Here I am not expected to give my seat up on the train to anyone! (but I do anyway) I can go shopping at the local store in my dressing gown, nobody cares! I dont receive bank statements that tell me my savings earned 2 dollars interest last month! and then another one telling me to disregard the previous one! I am free to walk across the road at any place, in any direction, if I get killed, well thats my problem! If I happen to accidently look at someone the wrong way, I can just smile, without fear of getting the shit kicked out of me! On my way home from work I can go into a 7/11 get a beer and casually stroll home without fear of being arrested! I dont have to vote for things I dont believe in! And best of &*$# all is I dont have to put up with the #$@* do-gooders telling me whats #$@!!* best for me! I will be moving to Thailand in early 2005 to further my asian connection. I do miss the bush, the beaches and the footy and some good friends, but I am here to stay.

Asia! Asia Asia Yoi! Yoi! Yoi!

Really I am happy living here in Southern California, but I will never be able to retire if I stay.

I even enjoy my job, but wish I did not have to work.

I'm 50 now and plan to move to Thailand with my Thai wife in 4 years.

We sold our house last month and going to bank the cash and add to it the next few years.

We have a daughter in collage in Chaing Mai, so I hope to have grandchildren someday.

Can't wait but will have to.

If you read the other thread about hi-so girls you might just be getting those grandchildren a bit quicker than you thought.

Why leave the US for Thailand?

1) Thai (Asia) women are more beautiful,

2) My Thai gf is SO sexy,

3) Money goes farther here,

4) On the other side of the world from my ex (farang) wife...

Man, so many guys frm the UK are REALLY upset with things back home. I'm afraid the US is headed down the same path............

May I please have another one year extension on my Visa?

Lance :o

Back to the thread: Hands down LOS still provide great vfm for most of us (granted there are countless irritating aspects of how this country is run - but then again we are guests without voting rights). One of the things I appreciate compared to many other asian countries is the relative safety here - to find yourself in a bad situation you'd typically would have to create these problems all by yourself, rather than having problem come knocking on your front door.

That being said, unless your a cynic, it's kinda easy to find yourself in a problematic situation - isan gurls being one source for it, big mouth another...

I'm pretty pragmatic and low-key myself (unless i've had 10 changs) so i manage to stay away from trouble 99% of the time... the balance 1% I just run like h-ell...

That kind of describes my situation except that my grand children are in the U.S. If they were in Thailand I'd be gone!!
