All hotels and guest houses are required to notify immigration of their foreign guests arrival - Guest houses record all guests ,however frequent guests do not give in their passport.of course depends on the owner.in my case I visit Thailand every few months and occasionally I stop at a friend's guest house in jomtien condo plaza and she no longer asks for my passport.

That's up to your friend. That doesn't change the law.

Ditto Jomtien. The OP might therefore wish to check whether Chumpon are similarly pedantic in this regard, particularly if he has any imminent plans for foreign travel. I return from overseas few time this year and went to make a report to Chiangmai immigration office and was told just to update the TM 6, no new TM 30 have been issued to me at this point and I just go alone without my Thai wife, take me only 5 to 10 minutes. Cheers

Cheers Since the TM-6 is used as part of the TM-30 update process, it sounds as if they are updating your TM-30 in the computer, and simply not generating new receipts.

Yes, they tend to do that at my Immigration office for those who frequently enter and exit Thailand. They've also set up login and password details for a few, so they can use the online reporting service, the same as hotels and guesthouses.
