What I recall from a technology-related mailing list I read is that Google's Gmail is controversial because they intend to use software to scan the body text of users' mails so they can target ads to them. So God help any user who happens to mention Viagra in a mail. ;-)
May 6, 200421 yr As privacy organisations have reacted quite badly to this new service, you will have to wait the end of trials...
May 7, 200421 yr You can't sign up yet, it's on a closed beta with invitation only. I'm trying my hardest to get an invite from some friends now. The interface looks superb tho, good job.

May 10, 200421 yr I've just got a gmail account. The interface is very clean, it has some great hidden functions (i love the reply to feature) and yes, my storage is 0% of 1000MB. We'll see how it goes once i start diverting all my lists mails to it. the only bad point, in my opinion is that you are unable to create sub-folders for proper mail sorting. Maybe in the future.. [EDIT] now i've learnt about filters, labels and archives, i retract my bad point above. It has excellent mail managment options.
