BANGKOK: -- The Office of Narcotics Control Board, the Patrol and Special Operation (191) Division and the Second Cavalry Division dispatched over 150 officers to search 13 areas in Bangkok early Tuesday morning.

The so-called “1386 Operation”, which aims to free Thailand of narcotics, was launched at 4.30am.

It was jointly launched by ONCB secretary-general Sirinya Sitthichai, Maj-General Chalermpol Sisawat, deputy commander of the cavalry division, and Pol Colonel Nithitorn Jintakanon, deputy commander of the 191 division.

The 191 division deployed its elite anti-terrorist Arintharat unit to join the operation.

The officers searched seven spots in Phra Khanon district, two spots in Suan Luang district, two spots in Din Daeng district, one spot in Yannawa district and another spot in Pathumwan district.

At about 6am, the officers arrested Nattawut Chanmee, 26, at his house on Soi Borpit Witthaya School off Soi Sukhumvit 62 in Phra Khanon district. The officials seized a 11mm pistol and six rounds of ammunition and 0.5 gram of ketamine.

This is Thailand. All bullshit because they thrive on bullshit.  Shame they don't put 1 million Chinese in charge of rooting out corruption in Thailand. Give every one 6 rounds of ammunition and progress may be made.

Absolutely zero intelligence and investigation.

If they used this manpower to actually investigate crimes, they might engage in something called "police work."  Using a ridiculous amount of police to randomly search the city in the early morning produces nothing and demonstrates the incompetence of their leadership or perhaps hints at locations from which there was a shortage of brown envelopes.

So it takes 150 officers to find half a gram of ketamine - a street value of around 325 baht, and a single gun. Hilarious.

There seems to be some form of self punishment here at work with the law enforcement people and so often they seem determined to make complete and absolute fools of themselves. e.g. raiding oldies bridge clubs.

I am no shrink but I believe it all stems from insecurity and small minds. Always love this photo. I have I pinned up on the wall.
