Pattaya police raid unlicensed pub

By The Nation

Pattaya police and district officials raided a pub in Pattaya early Saturday and rounded up 17 underage drinkers and 4 other drug abusers.

Bang Lamung assistant district chief Pichet Thamhone led the search of The Gig Chill Club on Pattaya 3 road at 3am.

When police arrived, there were still 60 pub-goers drinking. Police checked and found that 17 were under 20 years old and four others had tested positive for drug use.

The pub manager, Jirapong Puikhampha, 21, was arrested and charged with running an entertainment venue without licence and allowing persons under 20 to enter the venue.

While this raid was going on there were several bag snatches/thefts/muggings going on.

We have to uphold the law at all costs, underage drinkers, terrible , shocking crime that has to be stamped out at all costs.:cheesy:

The only reason the bar was raided was the lack of envelopes being handed over.

Personally I'm all in favour of illegal pubs operating at 3am being shut down. Anyone living nearby would probably be in favour of it also.

Only on this type of forum does the continued insistence that brown envelopes are the cause of all these issues

I live just off 3rd road and would happily see all of them closed down

I'm trying to remember the last time I ever read any news report where a pub in trouble actually HAD a license to operate.

No matter what they get raided for, every time, it seems the answer ends up being "...and no license to operate."

And yet, all these places presumably have been operating for years, and no one in authority bothered to check or confirm they had a license?

It's not like these places are invisible and unknown to anyone who lives and works there, like the local admin officials.

At the hub of unlicensed clinics, unlicensed brothels, unlicensed hotels & restaurants, teachers & schools, unlicensed drivers, fake cops and army personnel, and even an unlicensed government, what's the big deal about an unlicensed pub?
