Is Kuala Lumpur Thai Embassy tourist friendly ?

Featured Replies

Does Kuala Lumpur easily release tourist visas or are they tight like Singapore and Saigon ? How many days do they take to process the visa ?

Penang is a much better choice. KL will not be friendly.

Apparently they are friendlier nowadays than a few years ago as long as you have all the docs in the checklist published on the website. There are succesful reports from KL.

Penang is an easier choice indeed.

I have been there twice. Friendly and good service. apply morning, visa ready afternoon next day. see checklist for needed documents on their website and comply.

Penang... has it done...and the people know what to do.....

Went to KL five months ago - very friendly and efficient - also free of charge.  Go one day and pick up the next.

Went to Phnom Penh 2 months ago - unhelpful, rude and took two days to get passport - charged for and needed to prove exit ticket to leave Thailand.

Were you not asked for an exit ticket in KL?

I once overstayed my visa by a matter of hours. Tried to go to HCM city but discovered Americans need to apply at RVN embassy, no entry visas. So Phnom Penn was next choice, flight full, so I went to Siam Reap, the people were wonderful and helpful. Took a bus to PP, ( big mistake) read many online complaints about corruption at PP thai consulate. So I discovered I had a multiple entry visa and did not need a new one. Next time I found a tour service that is used by many Philippine people in the parking lot at Tesco Lotus center at On Nut. I recall about ฿6500 included mini bus transport to Vientiene, Laos, visa, and overnight accommodations with 3 meals at a decent hotel (would call a 3star). Seemed a good deal. But a loooonnnngggg ride. The next time I flew. Nok air to udon thani about ฿1000 rt included bus to/from border at Nong Kai found a NICE hotel across the street from Thai Consulate. No reservation so I paid about $45 a night.

So you went yourself to the Consular section of Thai Embassy? LOL

You the first I hear doing that, usually you just let your Hotel know you need a Visa and they bring a Visa Agent,

picks up your Passport, costs a small fee on top of the Visa cost and he, or she brings back the Passport again.

Or you go to a Travel Agencie and there it works similar.

If that procedure needs 3 working days instead of 2, who cares, Easier done. No problem.
