The creature from the Black Lagoon - no, just a skinny dipping Chinese woman out for a midnight swim

Late night beach walkers in Jomtien were freaked out in the early hours of Tuesday morning when a Chinese woman took off all her clothes and went for a dip in the darkness.

One man was so worried at what he was seeing that he called Pattaya's finest who arrived armed with the necessary equipment to effect a rescue - an umbrella, as it was raining, and a towel for the lady's modesty.

Still, Tnews reported it took 30 minutes to talk her out as no one seemed prepared to risk their lives by entering the filthy water.

By this time a large crowd had gathered some believing that the white figure in the rolling surf was in fact a ghost known as "Phee Phrai" in the local language.

Finally Miss Zhang Yan, 40, emerged from the sea and was hastily covered up. She was incoherent and speaking in what was thought to be Chinese.

Officers decided it was best to take her to the station to calm down.

The witness said he had seen the woman walking along the beach then he heard her shouting in a foreign tongue. He called the cops when she stopped, suddenly removed her clothing and headed for the depths.

Tnews did not report what happened after Ms Zhang spoke to female officers back at the station.

Why does this get the headline:

"The creature from the Black Lagoon - no, just a skinny dipping Chinese woman out for a midnight swim".

The headline needs to be nothing more than "A skinny dipping Chinese woman out for a midnight swim".

I just love all this gossip in this news forum!...:partytime2:....But I wonder, who can be bashed on this issue?...humm....any suggesions?:cheesy:

Brave girl to dare face the steamy, slimy waters of the sea in that area...

Given the state of the waters of late the "Black Lagoon" is fairly appropriate.

So the headline should have been "Skinny dipping (crazy and probably pissed), Chinese woman from the Black Lagoon."

Brown lagoon would have been funnier.

Its called "click bait"

Take her in for mental evaluation. Anyone who swims in the waters around here, day or night, should have head examined

How much did it cost her in 'fines' at Sattahip police station.  When my wife reported a car theft the fat guy in charge refused to waste his time for less than 10,000 despite the thief being brought to the station!

Tomorrow: 'Prayut steps up the campaign to attract Chinese and Australians for high quality tourism'.

Ah , a Chinese dip in the darkness.  Works for me .

Bugger me, the last time I posted that term in the same context, it was removed by a mod and the bugger also stuck a few more points on my license too.

I have no idea what you mean.

Yeah, but. . .

Was it really necessary for this woman to be publicly humiliated in this way? We have no idea why she behaved as she did- for all we know, judging by her actions, she may have been intending to take her own life. Her behavior, though bizarre, certainly did not warrant the massive publicity it has received and the puerile comments it has provoked both on this forum and elsewhere.

One has become accustomed to morons with smartphones posting the results of their unwarranted intrusions in to the lives of others on social media. But the role and attitude of the Thai police involved in this incident begs some questions -  not least how footage taken in the police station of the clearly distressed Chinese woman being laughed at by a bunch of uniformed bimbos found its way into the public domain.

Such insensitive treatment of foreign visitors can only add to Thailand's already tarnished image as an international tourist destination.

No big deal. Didn't we all.go skinny dipping in our youth.

So Chinese doesn't get arrested and fined for skinny dipping, only farangs.....

And then later they wonder why they are raped or robbed....

Take her to the doctor for antibiotics. Save doing it a few days once the infection sets in.

I've seen some who looked like that before entry and prior to the beer goggles working.

Wake up with it snoring on top of your arm, and consider chewing it off rather than wake her.

Been there. Done that.

It would be poor form to arrest mythical sea creatures and ghosts .

Best headline on News section, ever! xD

Ive woken up feeling like that in the morning. Mind you its been a long time

You know that whole movie is on youtube.

It TERRIFIED me as a little kid. My older brother heard it was filmed in the St Johns river in Florida, about 5 miles from where we grew up.

TO THIS DAY,  I think of that movie when I get near the St Johns River.
