My friend have a Non Immigrant "O" based on ED. It is valid until 31st july 2017, but his travel back home is not until 9th of august..

A simple but maybe stupid question, Can he extend that VISA by let say 1 month or something, and what does he show to immigration when applying??

Thanks for your input..

Not sure how a non-o visa could be obtained at an embassy or consulate with proof of attending a school.

Perhaps he had a non-o visa entry based upon something else and extended it based upon attending a school.

There is no 30 day extension possible for a non immigrant visa entry.

If his non-o visa was obtained based upon marriage to a Thai or being the parent of a Thai he could apply for a 60 day extension to visit them.

Thanks for your reply Joe, I got this question and was told that he have a Non Immigrant O and a ED-VISA. I am not so familiar with this particular ED-stuff... This guy is like me swedish and have obtained his VISA in Sweden...

Does this help you to answer??

Thanks

I think is probably a case of mixing up visas and extension of stay.  He could of entered on a non-o visa and then extended the entry from it based upon attending a school that some people call a ED visa.

It would not be possible to have a non-o and non-ed visa entry at the same time.
