Flooding in Sakhon Nakhon remains critical

 

Flooding in Sakhon Nakhon province remains critical today (July 29) as water level in most residential and commercial areas is holding steady and remains high.

 

In some locations, water level is almost two metres high stranding residents at their homes and buildings.

 

His Majesty the King has ordered the setting up of a flood command centre at the Sakon Nakhon Provincial Administration to immediately assist people affected by flood.

 

The centre is called “We do good with our hearts”.

 

The centre is tasked to hand out aids to the troubled people immediately.

 

Food, water and other daily necessities will be handed out to needed people to primarily relieve their plights, while the private sector in the province and adjacent provinces will supply raw materials to cook food and distribute them to the  people.

I now it happens every year in Thailand but it does seem to be getting worse.

My mother in law lives in Sakhon Nakon and ask me for rubberboat....she sent me incredible pictures of her house

Living in a little village , 12 km from Sawang Daen Din in Sakon Nakhon province;

the rd to Sawang is cut by a furious torrent , river between Ban Na Thom and Ban Tay which is on rd 22

In the 1970s I frequently stayed in Sakhon Nakon on work. Usually during August and September many parts of the central city area flooded. Hotel carparks were often 1 m deep. Now 45 years later, flood control does not appear to have improved.

Submarines + High Speed Train moneys can elevate flood in many provinces.

I'm younger than u in Thailand; it's only ten years I'm living in this village , all the year; never came back to Europe .

It's the first time I can see so much water in the rice fields; roads cut, trees and electric potholes falling down because too much water in the ground..

Every year , it's normal, we are in the rainy season, it rains much but like that...

They know now for hundred + years that it will flood Every year.Do you think that they will do something about it? No fat chance ,that would be to Smart of a thing to do.

Time is now 2215 

4 am we had a warning. Water rising and we might risk flooding

6 am the water came to our little house at ban non kho, sawang

daen din.

At first it did not look serious. But I learned another story. The

level of the water became higher and higher - fast.

We, my gf and I had to save a few things before we entered a

big dining table, 

10 am rescue people came. Nice, smiling young men. bringing a

big boat. Sailed to a dry spot and waited for further transport to

some friends. So far so good.

Damages, yes. All technical equipment, 2 mc, atv under water.

Furniture under water - Electricity was disconnected very early.

Good idea remembering accidents with this power.

Now residing in a hotel room. Much more rain is expected

so it looks a little bad the next days. Nobody knows when the

stormy weather is going to stop.

Nobody here can remember the situation has been so bad ever

the last 50 years.

Hope 50 years or more will pass by before a similar situation

occur again.

I am a farang, not english so mistakes can happen.

THIS IS THE WORST IN 30+ YEARS. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN LIKE THIS NORMALLY.

Pretty serious flooding for sure, I sure hope that most people had enough warning to get their

valuables to the high part of the house

Nope . They opened up the flood gates without a warning I heard.When I do decide to buy a house .I won't have it on low ground or in the path of flood gates

I am Sorry that the officials still cannot get warnings to the public before doing something

drastic like opening flood gates. Guess somethings will not change for now. Good luck when

they do that again after the next big storm in the north.
