Esports now officially accepted by SAT

 

The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT)  has recognized “Esports” as a type of sport and agreed to allow the registration of E-sports association.

 

Decision to allow legal registration of electronic sports or Esports was made at the meeting of the SAT board chaired by Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanvrangkul on July 27.

 

According to the SAT, Esports have been widely accepted by international sports organisations, while international level competitions are held regularly.

 

Besides, there was no scientific proof that Esports will encourage children to addict to video games.

 

Therefore, the SAT agreed to formally recognize the Esports as a sport under the Sports Authority of Thailand Act 2015.
