Did you purchase it from a mobile service provider? Obviously you could try a SIM from a different provider (these cost 49 baht, or borrow one for a minute or two) to verify. The next issue will be if your model supports the frequencies used in the U.K., on your provider of choice there. Assuming it's un-locked and supports the required frequencies, it may well work.
