webfact
Run-off floods Chiang Rai communities By The Nation CHIANG RAI: -- A mountain run-off caused by hours of torrential rain hit two tambon communities in Chiang Rai’s Muang district late Monday night, prompting the provincial governor to rush to the scene to direct the response operation. Chiang Rai governor Narongsak Sosotthanakorn and Sawang Momdee, chief of the Chiang Rai Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, inspected the communities at tambon Ban Du and tambon Nang Lae. Run-off from the Nang Lae mountains resulted in flooding at the communities of up to 50 centimetres deep. Floodwater also inundated the main thoroughfare, Chiang Rai-Mae Chan Road. The governor advised people living along canals and at the base of hilly areas to move their belongings to higher ground as heavy rain is expected until Saturday. He said provincial authorities are on standby around the clock to help people affected by floods. sceadugenga
I drove to MaeSai once and there was at least a foot of water over the highway at Ban Du, coming back a few hours later it was all dry. Certainly a lot of rain here but the sun was out this morning, hopefully flood victims can dry out a bit.
