If I pick democracy that means no Shins, because having a convicted criminal leading a party from abroad and paying the MP's a salary is not something a democracy is. So there are actually no choices.

....don't forget the array of "civilian" PMs throughout recent times that were shown to be crooked and corrupt - and conveniently backed by the usual military crowd.

Yet, the only examples that most can/will use are the Shinawatras and their reigns.

Oh, your one of those guys who think unless everything is perfect then there can be no democracy.

Without elections there is no democracy.

With elections there is democracy, it may be flawed democracy, but it is still better than tyranny.

Right, eventually, but at what cost? How about B2.2 trillion to continue the losses. Is it any wonder that those who didn't fall for the scams, and some who did, were outraged?

Look at the results of Thaksin's government from 2001 until the 2006 coup - they were outstanding.

Love him or hate him, the results were outstanding.

 

I for one prefer a mildly corrupt government that achieves outstanding results to an outrageously corrupt government that has achieved nothing of note other than to run the national treasury down from 495 billion to just 70 billion.

Yes I think that all the other conditions of a democracy to need to be adhered to before I would call something a democracy. 

 

It seems you made your choice.. Shins no matter how corrupt and how anti democratic they are. Pretending that it will become a Democracy even though we seen how Thaksin removed all checks and balances and consolidated his power. 

 

Now did they Shins not have MP's vote for MP's that were not there... caught on tape.. still lying about it.

Did the Shins not send away the opposition telling them the voting would be an other day and then have a secret vote

Did the Shins not secretly add Thaksin to the list of an amnesty..

Yes Thaksin was so brilliant, he lifted the economy of the whole world. And when my children walk down the wharf they can say 'We own that!" which is much better than "Where did B500 billion go?"

Only a true sycophant could describe any Thaksinist government as "mildly corrupt". Which puts you right onto the ignore list, see you on your next user name.

Democrats would be just fine by me, the only condition is that they are elected first.

Thaksin never removed the most important check did he? There was always elections under both him and his sister.

When the mobs hit the streets, they both dissolved parliament and called elections - can't ask for more than that.

They may very well ave done everything you state here... but it's up to the voters to decide whether to vote him out or not.
