BANGKOK, 11 August 2017 (NNT) – The government has pledged to step up its operations against human trafficking under guidelines of the TIP Report 2017 by the US Department of State and named a TIP Report Hero as an adviser to a committee against cybercrime.

Defense Ministry spokesman Maj Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich said the committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister/Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwan pursued the plans to eradicate and prevent human trafficking in Thailand.

The authorities are yet to make a report on anti-human trafficking at three-months interval and were instructed to adopt suggestions from the TIP Report and yield concrete results by December 2017, especially pertaining to the prosecution of government officials allegedly involved, the proceedings of cases in court as well as the screening and protection of alleged victims.

The police were instructed to invite Werawan Mosby who received the TIP Report Hero award from the US Department of State as an adviser for the panel in bid to suppress cybercrime related to child and youth abuses.
