BANGKOK, 11 August 2017 (NNT) – Police have warned drone operators to avoid flying over restricted areas or be prosecuted by law.

National Police Commissioner-General Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda warned operators of remotely-controlled, unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly known as drones, over public and restricted areas which might otherwise violate the Aviation Act BE 2497 in which the use of unmanned aerial vehicles is authorized by the Ministry of Transport.

Drone operations over restricted areas, including the airspace within a nine-kilometer radius around airports, or near manned aircraft, or over gathering places, may result in legal punishments if complaints are filed by affected persons.

The police chief cited a recent case in which a drone was found flying over the Air Force premises in Don Muang area and said the police are yet to identify and locate the person who operated the drone and will be faced with legal action.

It was so easy to buy a drone in Hua Hin at the big new mall.  I never shopped in BKK for one

but I imagine there are lots of places to buy them there as well. I wonder how soon one will go into

a jets engine and bring it down.  My guess is in less than one year.

The SH*T will hit the fan after that happens.

It isn't that easy... the software won't let you go near airports and restricts altitude depending on how close to the airport you are

They probably talk about "I don't want to be seen, so let's call it restricted" area
