PM pleased with world community’s admiration for educational opportunities in Thailand

 

 

BANGKOK, 14 August 2017 (NNT) – The Prime Minister is pleased with the world community’s admiration towards the educational opportunities in Thailand thanks to the graduation of a 91-year-old Thai woman. 

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha has been pleased to know that many foreign news agencies such as the BBC and ABC reported on Mrs. Kimlan Jinakul, a 91-year-old Thai woman from Phayao, who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in human and family development from Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University after 10 years of studying. A large number of foreigners commented on their admiration for Thailand in providing educational opportunities to people of all ages. 

The Prime Minister admired Mrs. Kimlan for pursuing her educational goal despite her age, which proves that no one is too old to learn and she is a good role model to helps inspire other Thais to study and enrich themselves with knowledge. He has asserted that the government is ready to fully support and develop the education of the country to raise the standard of education, reduce disparity and reform the educational systems. 

Meanwhile, Saudi authorities had praised the Thai government and its officials at all administrative levels that had expanded their services to better accommodate the Thai Hajj pilgrims traveling abroad this year, effectively reducing people who needed medical attention from exhaustion. The positive exchange was considered a milestone development for Thailand's cooperation on Hajj affairs. 

The Prime Minister emphasized that the government has placed importance on all religions equally and aims to create unity, because regardless of religion the people should not forget that they are all Thais living in the same country.

Why not spend the resources on the youth of Thailand instead?, what could a 91 year old woman contribute to the development of Thailand!

If Prayut starts on his degree in public administration now, he'd have it done in 2570, better late than never.

The man seems to hold a master's degree in the art of drawing illogical conclusions. Almost admirable! If it weren't so quaint...

we have a woman...  who decided to take up one of the world's greatest pleasures...

and it's the one unique to sapiens... as far as we can tell in the record so far...

at 91. in Phayao.

that is feel good news.  it really is

True.  Thai degrees still aren't worth anything outside of Thailand.  My wife had her masters in accounting from Thailand and had to do it again to be recognised in Australia.  

Education Reform...check.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but  see mostly undergrads here that are fresh school graduates. I don't see too many 30 or 40 year olds studying bachelor degrees in regular universities. In contrast, probably a quarter on my undergrad degree in Australia had mature age students back in the 80's.

Now she has to try and get a job !!

Thats the racial attitude taken by Australian Govt who think they have better standards. Thats why there are so many foreign taxi drivers who are doctors, lawyers, accountants etc The worst one is electricians from England who have to down grade their high standards to fit in with the poor electrical systems used in Oz

I'm under the impression he has both an undergraduate degree and a Masters - no comment on how real these are. I think his wife, and/or mother, was a teacher - assume Matthayom or Prathom.

 

I think his dissertation was on Special Economic Zones, meant to keep Burmese, Laotians and Cambodians employed close to the borders, for "security".

Pitiful, just absolutely pitiful. Good on her for her achievement but this happens world wide.

Allan Stewart, 97, will graduate from Southern Cross University today with a Master of Clinical Science.

But it's not his first graduation. Mr Stewart earned a place in the record books when he graduated with a law degree at the age of 91.

Today he retains that title with his fourth degree. He undertook his first degree in dentistry in 1936.

"mandatory donations" (aka tea money, under-the-table/undocumented fees, or bribe) to enter schools continue to increase and collected without fail. private schools remain tax-exempt, and despite the ridiculously sky-high tuition fees, the quality of education remain mediocre. higher profits projected for tutor schools because school curricula are insufficient in achieving proficiency levels demanded by schools. for the weather, the whole country will be sunny with occasional birds flying by because the PM says so.

Given that it took her 10 years to complete I doubt that it took up that many resources.

Good luck to her, which is most likely the international communities reaction, rather than waves of admiration for the Thai educational system...

Wonder if he knows how many countries in the world to class as the world community ?

Testing results seem to be on a downward trend. 

 

Education Reform...un-check.

 

 

One assumes that the amart wants to keep the phrai dumbed-down so they don't get all uppity and start demanding "rights". Hence the state of education - yes the older woman getting a degree is a true feel good story - remains a feature rather than a bug.

 

 

Meanwhile at the other end of the age scale, Thailand continues to turn out good citizens through the latest teaching methods.

 

Any resemblance in the cartoon to real teachers past and present is coincidental.

What would anyone in his right mind study here to get an academic degree recognized in the real world? Study for a master’s degree in fruit carving, traditional Thai massage, or self censored journalism?

They think they have better standards because the thats exactly what they achieve. Most Thai degree holders would fail all Australian leaving exams. It not being racist, its fact. Thai education standards are a disgrace .

You probably won't make it to 90 or anything close, but for those that do, surprise surprise, satisfaction in achievement is a wonderful thing. She sets a great example for other achievers and there can't be enough of it.
