ExpatDraco
I only need a test from AIS PowerPRO users, a simple ping test to 195.130.131.38 (resolves to one of www.telenet.be servers, so it's not something fishy. :-)) And if possible a traceroute (tracert) to that address. Thanks in advance!

ExpatDraco
Thanks, but that traceroute misses the actual servers/path. :-) But no problem. I just wonder why AIS has so high latency to Belgium... but everyone seems to be raving about AIS fiber? And can't get 3bb fiber yet, only vdsl. Have to wait one month. But that 1 month will probably take 6 months in Thailand.

coops
Not even sure what 'AIS PowerPro' is, but sounds impressive.... I am on AIS fibre though at 100/10 :- To your first IP the ping was 294ms average... (42 std dev) turning on my VPN to a UK server brought the ping down to av of 264ms (25 std dev) That second IP you gave was a lot more variable - av of 324 ( std dev 54). A google speedtest to Atlanta US was 94/10.8 speed with a ping of 264ms. Having a VPN that has servers in Belgium itself may help if it's that important. Pib
Maybe the problem is totally within Belgium in the final kilometers to reach www.telenet.be which I think is in Brussels....or just a slow responding www.telenet.be. When I do a ping test to www.telenet.be I get an average of 297ms However, if I ping test to www.combell.com which is located in Brussels Belgium I get the following ping time averaging only 236ms I know you asked for AISPro folks and I'm on an AISHome plan 100/10. But maybe AIS Fibre ping to Belgium is just fine (I think it is), but it's just this particular www.telenet.be server that's lagging. ExpatDraco
Thanks Pib! I am kind of a perfectionist if it comes to networks and latency. But I have bitten the bullet and ordered AIS powerpro as in 2 hours ago. I saw that the traceroute of AIS to the ip address didn't really make sense and I probably can overcome it with a VPN if needed. Your ping to combell makes more sense. Why not 3bb... Can't get their fiber at my house because they need to bring a cable in below the ground. Only 1 month... Yeah right, 1 month in Thailand is 6 months. :-) Will keep you informed in a few days because AIS will come install it this Saturday already . :) Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
muratremix
No isp in thailand uses best routes for usa/europe. They always have some bad routes, depending on location, but a good vpn can fix these problems.

Yeah, so my next question will be... which VPN provider to choose? :-D
