Trump’s Tariff Strategy: US can no longer act as the world's economic shock absorber
Protectionist tariffs make sense, when there is something to actually protect. But producing industry has left the US decades ago. While this might be the plan (?) of Trump to bring it back, he is going about it the wrong way around. You would need years-long education programs, tax incentives, legal changes... and then you could rise protective tariffs. With tariffs in place without an industry to be protected, all he has done is raising costs for US consumers, and the relationship between the EU and China as the remaining lucrative markets getting a lot closer automatically, depriving the US of even more market share. In the end, I guess he will wobble on this policy as well, giving some countries "special relief" -- meaning, those companies who started the billion-dollar-investments to move back to the US will be wrecked latest then. All in all, it is a senseless act of vandalism, hitting the whole world -- but hitting Americans a lot harder. As such, I can sleep soundly, because at least the idiots who voted for him will be totally gutted. After that, maybe reason will come back. -

Not at all. However, what disturbs me, sometimes, is that I must go outside my house.... Just to warm up. Really, Sir, I am not joking..... Inside my house is too cold for most people in Thailand. ================= Has ANYONE here on TV ever been to the.... WARM UP CLUB? -

Thanks to Donald, finally we know.
I definitely recall during DT's first term he said more than once "the US has done some bad things too" in relation to Russia. Fox ignored it. For the first time ever I thought "now is a time when we need O'Reilly" but I doubt he'd have the guts to go anti-MAGA, and DT already has a devoted toilet hygiene servant (Sean H.). In the Cold War era saying that would be branded defeatism and the hawks would call for anyone in US politics who said it to be burned at the stake. Alas, when Hillary branded him "Putin's puppet" at that debate she should have gone in for the kill to his lame response, IMO that would have upset the whole MAGA sh_t show; I was watching it and was livid that she backed down, like a sports fan who just saw his quarterback drop the ball at the 50 yard line. I support the Dems because they are the only non-conservatives with a chance of succeeding, but bringing a spoon to a knife-fight just doesn't do it -- that was my lesson from the 1988 presidential campaign.
