Beung Kan - What's of interest?

Anyone based in Beung Kan like to share the city's secrets? What's recommended? :)

I wouldnt call it a city, more a town....Go there for a long weekend with the kids occasionally, to stay at The One Hotel where we all can enjoy their Waterpark, with beer and good food by the pool. Can walk on the Mekong beach when the 'tide' is out In Winter with pleasant mountain views of Laos. Thats enough for me!

Unfortunately they tore up the nice old river bank where vendors used to set up tables and sell food and drink. Now it looks more like a gigantic parking lot.

 

All I ever do there these days is have a meal at the restaurant attached to the Maenam Hotel. It's very good, and there's a view of the river.

It's not too big. Pleasant enough along the Mekong of an evening. All nicely paved. Plenty of restaurant and some beer bars along the front.
Friday and Saturday evening market along the river side.

A friend took us there in April 2017. He used to really like the night market along the river, but when we were there it was all torn up. Kind of disappointing, and dusty.
