BANGKOK, 22 August 2017 (NNT) – The Pavena Foundation for Children and Women has successfully coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to return a Thai woman deceived into prostitution in Bahrain home.

The 21 year old woman from Chaiyaphum province was swindled into being a human trafficking victim after being told she could travel to Bahrain to apply for a job. After reaching out for help, the victim’s family was told by her captors that they would have send a replacement or pay 180,000 baht, prompting them to contact the Pavena Foundation, which in turn coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Thai Embassy in Bahrain and Bahraini police to secure her return.

Upon returning, the woman gave a statement to police indicating she was not harmed but was kept with 10 other Thai women being sold into prostitution.

The foundation has warned the public of being enticed into work abroad, especially to jobs promised in Bahrain, Malaysia and South Korea, where many Thai women have been deceived into prostitution or illegal labor.

Foundation Chairwoman Pavena Hongsakul reported that in 2016, her organization saved 95 women, the most from Bahrain at 33 followed by 16 from Malaysia. Since January of this year it has received 66 reports, 33 involving Bahrain.

Happy ending for woman duped into sex trade

By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- A young woman’s Cinderella dream of finding a wealthy husband in Bahrain turned into a nightmare when she was forced into prostitution.

Chaiyaphum native Neung (not her real name), 21, was rescued from sex traffickers in Manama, capital of the Middle East country, and returned to Thailand on Saturday.

Neung’s family had on August 11 appealed to the Paveena Hongsakul Foundation for Women and Children, which coordinated with the Consular Affairs Department’s Protection of Thai Nationals Abroad Division to have her rescued.

The family personally thanked foundation president Paveena Hongsakul on Monday at its offices in Pathum Thani.

Neung, from a poor family, had been working as a shop assistant in Pattaya when she met a woman identified only as Supaporn, who offered to find her a foreign boyfriend who could improve her family’s financial status.

Neung consulted her family and they gave their blessing. Supaporn put Neung in touch with a foreign man and arranged for her to travel to Bahrain on August 4 to meet him.

Several days later Neung sent her family a Line chat message saying she was locked up in a building and had been forced into prostitution.

She said her captors were demanding Bt180,000 to cover their expenses in bringing her to Bahrain, but suggested that she and her elder sister could take turns working in the sex trade to repay the debt.

With Neung safe at home again, her family is urging other young women not to accept offers of well-paying jobs or marriages abroad.

Paveena echoed the warning, saying gangs preyed on Thai women’s desire for a better life, only to enslave them in Malaysia, South Korea and some Middle East countries.

She said many such women ended up being forced into prostitution or hard labour that was often also illegal.

the real truth is most of them knew what will be their job prior to leaving Thailand. They just wanna work and get money for their families.

Interesting how i never see any flyers, adds or anything in the newspapers informing about the dangers. So easy to make people register with their caretaker at embassy or airport and have them visit again after 2 weeks. Cant these foundations have a information shop at the airports,  where people can register. Inside or even better outside.

That's only your opinion. Unless you have hard facts to prove what you think.

Do you?

Hmm, you probably both right - not all know, what they are most likely will have to work there -

but many know, thinking from and hearing from easy money and big monthly sums.

Seeing then the circumstances:shock1: - they get cold feet and have second thoughts - I know what I am writing about,

I brought 3 women back from Singapore, sending them with other guys money for flight tickets,

after their Guiding Lady (sure she got money for bringing new women:1zgarz5:

was denied entry from Malaysia to Singapore at  land border and they got frightened from the pimps there.   - they had been less then 24 hours in Singapore and nearly no money on them.

I am actually on your side, but have to write =

Moral indignation consists in most cases out off 2% morality. 48% inhibitions and 50% envy.

And -easy money-  -no moral- of course it is easy money - if you have only one guy as a "Bf" you have to take care off,

for a good salary, for 30 min or less "work" a day.

BUT - it is sure no easy money, if you have a half a dozen or many more customers a day each,

for a small fee you have to share.

Anyway -

coming from a Country with good education system,

easy job possibilities with decent salary

a good social system,

Pension system for nearly all and good pensions,

it is "easy" to talk about others not having "moral" lol.  5555

who do not have all these possibilities.

Having good moral doesn't depend in you being poor or rich.

I did not write about -poor or rich- I wrote about the possibilities you have to get a better life or to live a good life!

BUT - if you do not understand - why much more Prostitutes coming from poor countries with no or less chances in life,

then from good coordinated and socially balanced countries, let us say Switzerland, Sweden, Norway ect I cannot help you.
