OECD cooperates with Thailand to drive the country into digital economy

BANGKOK, 25 August 2017 (NNT) - The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is ready to cooperate with Thailand to drive the country into full digital economy in accordance with the Thailand 4.0 policy. 

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha welcomed OECD Secretary General Angel Gurria who paid him a courtesy call at the Government House. 

Lt. Gen. Weerachon Sukhonthapatiphak, Deputy Spokesman of the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed that the Prime Minister was glad that Thailand has an opportunity to host the OECD’s Southeast Asia Regional Forum 2017 on the country's digital reformation. 

The government has taken various actions to support and drive the country's economy to full-fledged digital economy in accordance with the Thailand 4.0 policy, and adds that Thailand is ready to increase its cooperation with the OECD. 

Both sides also agreed that their cooperation will be in line with the sustainable development goals of both Thailand and the United Nations. 

After the discussion, the Prime Minister assigned Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Khreaungarm to preside over the signing ceremony of the MOU on Thailand Integrity Review among the OECD, Office of the Public Sector Development Commission and the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission. The MOU was signed at the Government House, in Bangkok.
