DEAR ALL, I have a Yamaha XT 250 T (1992 or so), at the time imported from Japan. I need a little part, obviously unavailable through normal channels. Is there a sort of flea market for old motorbykes where you can scavenge for spare parts? I once went to Chiang Kong or something like that near National stadium, is it the only choice? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!!

See the Car accessory thread, the area is the same for motorbike bits. Klong tom again. Alternativly there is about 5 motorbike spare parts shops in Sapan Kwai just by/up from the BTS. Take the part to the shops, tell them it came off a Yamaha, and they should be able to help you. Worsted case is head to a Yamaha dealer, find the repair shop and ask them if they can help you; if they are not co-operative, take the bike there and ask them to fix it. Main dealer bike repairs are quite cheap and not as expensive as you might think. Thing I have noticed about Yamaha's is that there is alot of common parts between the models. I have a Belle R and a VR150; both bikes share alot of parts with other Yamaha models so finding your spare part should not be difficult if its not a cosmetic part (eg if its from the engine/gearbox/brakes, etc)!

I have notice that the local fix all bikes repair shop seem to be adverse to going out and buying spare parts; this takes time and costs more. So typically the bike shop will try a work around or using parts in stock. So this route may not be a good route!
