Hi Ladies;

I am interested in your opinion for somewhere really romantic to take my wife for a weekend.

She has had some health problems for the last 2 years and had lots of ups and downs along the way. Finally we have had a positive result after an all day session with micro-surgery. She has been stresses / scared / upset etc for the whole 2 years, a true emotional roller-coaster for her.

Also during this time, she has been totally selfless and made a huge effort to make me happy, though I could always see her suffering, both physically and mentally.

In light of this I want to take her for a really nice romantic weekend, but somewhere for her, so she can relax and feel like good, for herself. If not to say thank-you, just to make sure she knows she is a very special person.

I don't care where in Thailand we go, and I don't care how much it costs, so let your imagination free and give me some ideas.

Thanks

Sorry to hear about your wife's problems, does sound like a special person (you too). Of course everyone has different opinions as to what is romantic but it sounds like you two need a getaway like a retreat. Here is a great place to get away from the city bustle and be pampered. There are of course others around Thailand but maybe it will give you an idea. This is ouside of Chiangmai very near to where I live.

If price is no object and it's only for a weekend, then I would suggest a spa (in Samui for example,) there are many to choose from, and being totally pampered for a weekend would be a treat I am sure.

Both of you should share in the experience, not only your wife.

Sensual, relaxing and very romantic. :o

Romantic weekend = 2 days right?

well you have time limit then, try to find place that no need to travel for long

For me..

I will go to Koh samet ,3hrs from BKK , "Ao prao" and stay at Le Vimarn resort and take a spa course.. for room type i chose "Spa Villa Suite" it has private jacuzzi

Bambi :o

If you only have two days to spend... you can check out some of the really nice hotels in Bangkok like The Oriental Hotel or The Four Seasons and try the spa.

Or..

you can go to Koh Samed (as Bambi suggested)... I love that island; very relaxing and not too far from Bkk.

If you want to go somewhere farther then (for me) I recommend Chiang-mai.

Although I'm not so much of a nature-girl--as in jungle trekking seems mildly daunting-- I've never been one to enjoy spas too much either. It depends on what your wife finds romantic I suppose.

but, when i went to kanchanaburi (which is about 2 hours from bangkok, if i remember right) they had the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. the air wasn't too buggy, and when you walked along the paths you could see these huge massive fish sort of wafting through the water.

it was pretty neat. there were different quality hotels there. one of the pricier ones i stayed at stunk more than cheap guest house. so, if you decide to go, i would ask around first.

oops-- sorry BKKMADNESS, this is orlandoiam. i accidently used a computer that you had logged into previously. When i made my post it came up as you. lest anyone think BKKMADNESS is recommending Kanchanaburi as a romantic setting, it was ORLANDOIAM.

I vote spa, most women do like the pampering of a spa, couldn't tell you which one is the best but a spa on the beach would be better than a spa in the city (at least for me).

no worries, just confusing really as except for maybe a few times in a few years I have always used my home computer for thaivisa. :D

I agreed with you advice on kanch there though so doesn't bother me, and sometimes I do feel like wanting to be a nature girl but perhaps we shouldn't even go there. :D:D:o

a sweet suggestion for romantic and love will be not ever a question to the price

i agree that kanchanaburi specially the area at erawan waterfalls is beautyful and really close ( by bus or train ca.3 hours )and very relaxed

you can spend a lot of private time in the nature and do something for your both mind and body

but also a very romantic place is the mut mee guesthouse at nong khai in the north on the mekong river banks (by train 2nd class sleeper 12 hour)

the absolut lovly place force you to enter a different world

there is an small libery and a liitle alternative natural lifestyle

ask for the honeymoon suite

Erco? :o

Koh Mun Nork...

A private island retreat - the most romantic place I've ever been...

Been there, very nice.

My recommendation though is heading a little out of Thailand up to Luang Prabang. Very quiet and relaxing with all the fancy hotels you need.
