A 51-year-old Scottish man, who was not named by authorities, was taken to hospital with a head wound after an argument with his Thai partner at a restaurant in Pattaya early on 27 August 2026.

Pattaya City Police were called at 12.15am to the Pak Boong Loi Fah restaurant in Soi Chaloem Phrakiat 25. Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya rescue workers were also sent to the scene.

Man treated for head injury

Police and rescue staff found the Scottish man sitting at a table with heavy bleeding and a large wound to his head. Rescue workers gave him first aid before taking him urgently to hospital.

A crowd of Thai onlookers had gathered outside the restaurant. Inside, items had been damaged and broken glass was scattered across the floor.

The situation remained tense when officers arrived, with the Thai woman involved reportedly still angry and shouting. She was later identified as Prang, a 49-year-old woman from Khon Kaen province; her surname was withheld.

Partner describes four-year relationship

Prang told police that the injured man was her Scottish boyfriend, was 51 years old and that the pair had been together for around four years.

She said she had discovered him speaking privately with a woman who worked at a bar, and confronted him to find out what was happening.

During the discussion, she said, he told her in front of her: "I love her." Prang said she became overwhelmed with anger and lost control, picking up a glass and a soda bottle and striking him several times.

The blows left the man with a split head and substantial bleeding, according to her account. Authorities intervened to bring the disturbance under control and assist the injured man.

Police took her to the police station for further questioning and will interview the man after treatment, before proceeding with legal action.

I wondered if that might be the case. I can't imagine any individual would go to a restaurant looking like that, much less that any restaurant would allow him to sit down. That would be too much, even for Pattaya.

I wouldn't eat in any restaurant that served shirtless men, even if they looked like Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime.
