I love it. They found more dope than they did porn CDs. Must have looked real hard, eh?

Would it be cynical to suggest that possibly perhaps maybe somebody had advance notice of this visit...?

The amount of times I have visited the DVD shops of the Capital to get the latest films (not pixelated nudity I have to say!) only to find the shops closed and be informed by the vendors that thay are expecting a raid - "come back tomorrow" leaves me convinced that the channels of communication from the police to the vendors are wide open. If the minister seriously thinks that Panthip is free of porn, illegal copies of films and software rather than saturated with it he is seriously mistaken. If he also thinks that Patpong wasn't fully prepped and awaiting his arrival then he really needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

That says it all.

I can hardly attempt to buy a computer game with my family without having touts try to push everything from straight sex to animal sex vcds on me where I shop, and yet no police raid has ever found anything there.

With all the importance of face in the Thai Culture I wonder why he allowed these reports. He must look like a complete goon now. Oh man, the deputy PM being taken for a ride, and proud of it .... Guess that opens up new strategies for diplomatic relations. "Mr. Deputy PM, I am sure you would believe us if we state that this contract we want you to sign on behalf of Thailand is only in the benefit of your Country."

Give the guy a break please. He said he discovered one porno VCD. How long do you think it will take him to sift through the other 1000's that he most probably got taken to his home for further personal review ? Lets see if he annouces later what he has founnd or whether he will just be seen in public with his arm in a sling due to muscle fatigue.

'Tis rather annoying to have a bunch of young Thai guys approach you to ask if you want a sexy DVD... I know that they all assume we're sex fiends, but come on. And, they often don't take 'no' for an answer. :o

Yup, the "I feel safer already" bit was classic! :D :D

It is easy to work out how no larger amounts od porn or copy vcd-dvd were found. When you buy from any of these stalls in Pantip, you have to wait 15 minutes for the disc to arrive, meaning that the discs are not with the vendors, but somewhere out of site.

I was in Pantip last week, was offered Sex vdo and hash by more than a dozen vendors.

Though i was looking to purchase a Skype wireless phone, so left empty handed. well after 15 minutes left with one dvd :o

Can we assume that there'll be a front page piccie in the Bangkok Post of the deputy PM driving a road roller over this porno DVD in a demonstration of the governments resolve to clean up this town?

Thai politicians ya gotta love them, best comedy show on Earth. Like the woman, can't remember her name, a few years ago who swept through Pattaya in her limo and declared "there are no prostitutes in Pattaya". Yeah right :o .

Open letter to the TV news editors:

Be careful with the stories that you send, be sure to screen them for content.

When i check my e-mail and see a news letter form you that states "DPM raids Pantip Plaza and seizes 1 pornographic VCD " and then my coffee shoots out my nose from laughing too hard, it doesn't help anyone (especially my keyboard) so be kind. :o

That's hard! Last time I was in Pantip I couldn't find a single pornographic VCD. Those cds usually come in bundles of 5 or 10...

Come on how about a bit of sympathy for the guy.

Can someone phone him and get him to make up a list of Cd's his after and then someone drop the CD's/ Dvd's off in his Office.

Obvisouly couldn't find they DVD he was after , so decided to drop in for some Horizontal Refreshment on his way in to the Office.
