Overstay! Want To Rectify!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I need advice help PLEASE! PLEASE, NO ###### with sarcastic "waste of time " replies.

I already know all the "stock" answers---bad boy/bad farang-give other farangs bad name--blah, blah!

I am on overstay of approx. one and half years.

Will not explain here, WHY!!, up 2 you, you want give good advice/help, or simply shut the empty head!

Want to know if I can go to Laos (or similar), pay the 20,000 baht overstay fine, leave, and be able to re-enter, and not be "blacklisted" and/or " Barred" from coming back!??

Anyone with this knowledge can help, or suggest other Border crossing?

I have good/true/understanable explaination for overstay, which hopefully will satisfy border Immigration.

Thanks for your time.

nothing will satisfy the immigration boys and gals, your only bet as detailed many times is to get a plane ticket and fly out of bkk.and hope you dont get caught before you get to immigration.also dress tidy, shave etc,etc and dont piss them off.

you may have trouble getting back in on a tourist entry visa though so advise getting a multi entry in your home country (where are you from by the way)

good luck

ps even if you feel you had a reason to overstay your still a bit of a prick for doing it.

How will getting a muti entry visa change anything?

Think about it. A year and a half overstay might not give the immigration officer a lot of confidence to let him back in on just a 30 day entry permit.

here in Australia, we lock people like you up out in the middle of the desert.

You are an illegal immigrant.

You willfully and knowingly broke the laws Thailand.

You give Farangs a bad name.

You are a bad boy.

You are an idiot.

You also deserve everything that the Thai authorites can throw at you. If that means a couple of nights with a strapping lad from Nigeria down the IDC, all the better.

I have good/true/understanable explaination for overstay, which hopefully will satisfy border Immigration.

If it is so good/true/understandable why didn't you feel confident to tell immigration about it 1.5 years ago?

Then drop you passport in the washing machine, along with your pants.

After that you will need to go to your embassy and get a new passport.

Then you can start with a fresh page here in Thailand

If he leaves the country with a black mark against him it will be documented on the computer. When his passport is swiped for re entry this will automatically show up. Regardless of what visa he has.

He won't have a black mark if his dues are paid. But a walkers 30 day permit may well elude him on his overstay history, it all depends on how the officer views a one and a half year overstay.

nurse nana what are you resting your case on ........a rickety chair by the sounds of things.

the dr was in fact saying that if he came back in on the 30 day tourist pass he could get turned away and told to sod of back the way he came by the immigration official or he might be lucky and let in with no problems......it is up to the indurvidual official.

if you are coming in to the kingdom on any form of visa or pass of entry you can still be turned around and told to sod off.but this is a lot more unlikley if you have a proper visa obtained out of country.....

any way i hope the guy is sorted cos by all accounts idc aint a nice place to be......

Wrong,so very wrong. The passport gets swiped irrespective of what visa you may,or may not have.

A visa obtained outside of Thailand will not influence immigration.

Please give a little credit to these guys at immigration. They are not tuk-tuk drivers.

AMAZING!! I specifically requested , PLEASE, if you only have negative, sarcastic respones to my request for advice, then simply carry on guzzling the beer--stay pissed--shut the stupid mouth and I.Q. of around 50!! (IF THAT)

Thanks to good people for serious help!

You other "people" have NO IDEA what unfortunate circumstances led to my "FORCED" overstay!

You don't know me.

You don't know anything about my life!

Get on with your own life and try something constructive here, instead of trying to show off!!

NOT CLEVER!!

Thanks,

Joe

Mr Joethai

I am guzzling beer and pretty pissed, but hope my advice won't be taken as negative . I am not sure what your circumstance for overstaying so long. Doing a Rip Van Winkle comes to mind for 1.5 years

But anyways, it is not my business to judge you or your situation. I would do a Speedy Gonzales to the nearest border (preferably airport ) and get outta Dodge for a while until the heat dies down .

Good luck and keep away from tourist areas .

what do you expect people here to do, hold your hand? So far you are as convincing as the kid who tells the teacher that the dog ate his homework.

any advice that you have been given so far (eg chuck out the passport) is all illegal and just as likely to get you into trouble with your own government as well as the Thai government. You could try your luck with the visa run and pay the 20K but you thats no guarantee that they'll let you pay it.

If you have legitimate reasons for being here, tell us. There are lawyers, long term expats and those who are connected with government who visit this site who actually may be have to offer advice if you tell us why you haven't bothered to regularise your status for the past 18 months.

Don't us expect to provide us with very little background info and expect a straight answer.

The "poor bugger me" attitude that you seem to display won't work, especially with the Thai authorities.

Am bloody sick and tired of farangs coming to Thailand but somehow mysteriously seem to leave their brains behind in their home country.

My next door neighbor has been here 5 years overstay on 30day visa.6 months ago his mother died and he tried to return home to his country.immigration at DM airport wouldnt let him pay the 20,000baht fine(which he had on him ready)and sent him back to immigration office in Bangkok to sort it out.He panicked, ran and is still here ,now 5 1/2 years and unable to leave.

He's sorry for overstaying now!

Contact a good immigration lawyer (one with a proper international law firm, not the typical farang services shops).

They may be able to negotiate a solution and a fine for you. Better than walking straight into immigration's hands with the chance of getting arrested and spending a week or two at the IDC No bed & No Breakfast Hotel.

If you do want to just leave without consulting a lawyer then dress nice and leave on a BUSINESS CLASS ticket to a respectable destination like Singapore or your home country, rather than walk across the border into Laos.

Walking into Laos means "I'm a broke loser and I'm coming back to Thailand tomorrow" to Thai immigration officials.

Sam is right, explain your situation in detail and you can get sound advice from the experts here. The info you have given simply states you overstayed a year and a half. Maybe you can run to a border and pay 20k and leave. Maybe you can come back, maybe not. More info would be helpful to you in getting sound advice here

Hi there... may I please quote you:

"I have good/true/understanable explaination for overstay, which hopefully will satisfy border Immigration"

Let me tell you something very clearly from 20 years of dealing with Thai Immigration:

"There is NEVER a good/true/understandable EXPLANATION for overstay"

And that's a fact. Another fact is, that the Immigration doesn't really want to know WHY you overstay - they want only to know how YOU would like to solve the problem! (they are normally helpful... IF you are nice and polite, dressed well ...)

So how do you solve your problem ... I imagine that's what your question is really about now ... so let me ask you a few questions:

1. Do you have the money Baht 20,000 for overstay charge?

2. Do you have enough money for eventually buy a flight ticket back home to your home country? - Do you have enough money to come back?

May I then kindly provide you with following idea:

Ring the Immigration in Sadao (Thai/Malaysia border point) - try to talk to the boss. Tell him your problem, ask him what you should do? Ask him if you can come back right in. (after having paid the fine, done the paperwork) Tell him your name and ask for his as reference, don't hide anything. Tell the truth. Be open.

My guess is, that he (the Immigration boss in Sadao) will be kind to you... and that you'll stay in Malaysia for about 22 minutes... (the traditional visa stamp in/out) and return back to Bangkok by the overnight coach and then to your final Thai destination

The flight ticket question is just in case that this doesn't work out... then departure through the airport is your final option... and do the same thing here, call the Immigration boss (it might be a female... a Captain or so) explain things.

I think everything may work out fine for you

(and please keep your temper cool when dealing with the Thai Immigration)

Good luck
