Captiva Latest

just bought a cr-v and was quite a bit unnerved by the approach of the captiva.

first thing therefore when those captivas started showing up at chevi showrooms i went to see one!

that back part of the captiva is gorgeous, much more styled than the cr-v's tail.

the diesel engine as well is a clear winner - whereas my cr-v's 2.4 lt is quite economic and truly powerful compared to my previous 01 cr-v.

other than that no regrets going for the honda.

the interiour of the captiva is cheep and the cabin feels and is narrow.

the dashboard does not give you the feeling of the cr-v's premium dashboard.

the captiva's leather seats are hard - but as said, like the outside design, especially the tail.

your's the understudy!

Ok had a 2hr test drive on diesel version today and supriced how good it was,,

did all kind of driving new tarmac, rice field mud up and down hill drive(25dec angle)

First off all,, entry for captiva is suprisingly wide,, im tall guy 6 2' and 250lb,, and no problem what so ever to enter,,

even 2nd row seat are wide and lots of feeet place.

dislplay is clear, only negative and unnessesary is compass.

Europen style turning signals are nice (touch for stick, turning light bliks 3 times)

Auto lights,,when coming to dark area it will automatically turn on head lights and when turn off the engine and lock the car, lights will automatically turned off, so no worries that lights will be on whole night,,

also when lights are Auto then rain controll will be on as well so when rain starts wipers will be automatically wife windscreen according to rain and speed of the car.

2w & 4w

this subject is weirdest thing what i ever faced,,

while driving tarmac and good surface with high speed it will automatically scosen FWD and when going to rough or steep surface, car it self will change automatically 4wd drive, HOW EVER negative part for this is that there is NO indication of this, so driver will nott know what is going on.

Self balancing,,,

rear suspension is computericed when or if back side of the car is loaded(Up to 50KG) or people in the back seat, it will automatically adjust suspension that car is well balanced at all the time,,again NO indication for this.

3rd row, has separate air condition fan speed control and 12v outlet.

About up hill drive, it was smoot,, but i did not use automatic for this as i have drived off road b4,, tip tronic is best for this and it was nice smooth and even surface was loose tyres did not spin at all,, help fo this can be used traction controll, 10 points for up hill,

down to same sloop,, was easy traction was good even stopped in the middle and rewersed (Just wanted to test)

Drive in the rice field(Tyres half way submerged), first impression was that i was stucked,, use of traction contoll and tip tronic and no problem slovely moved and off we gone.

then wife drive 5ft tall,, she said that her first impression wa it's big and large cant see the corner's,,but after 30min driven she was comfortable for it, even in the small village roads.

then best part is what is also related to question in other subject in this forum..

one can get it with 0% intrest and rest must be paid with in 2yrs

how?

down payment 50% rest with in 2yrs what come abt 32500thb per month from Gmac company.

plased order for one.

Hope it will give picture what it's like,,

if one has questions,, shoot, lets talk abt this.

What price were you quoted in Ubon for the LT diesel?

Morning

first off all lets start on this way,, THEY said that ALL chevy prices are the SAME through out the country excluding promotions, SO what Captiva cost in your region? lets do though out the country survey of the price, shall we?

In Ubon Diesel LT quted 1.560.000THB AWD

Herd that when i called to my friend in Phuket Diesel was there around 1.1? did not called to showroom there BUT if this is true,, cap is huge.

Remember that one can buy car from any where in LOS and if i can get car from somewhere else in 400K cheaper,, i will get it,, so lets compare prices...

Same price in Phuket: LT AWD = 1.560.000THB

Your friend might be referring to the FWD version or the petrol version.

I tried the petrol version too but there was not enough power.

For a good visual of the automatic AWD in action check out this video

BTW I agree with you about the lack of indication that the AWD/ suspension compensation is operating or not.

What freebies are they offering you?

So far I got 1 year free insurance, tinted windows and one option thrown in.

Marcoh,

I also have a Zafira which I would want to trade in so can you tell me what sort of offer you got from Chevrolet for your Zafira?

Rgds,

Ed

Hi Ed

That is long prosess,, first of all as all car dealers will go to top bottom in they offer like from mine 2003 2.2Sport with cruise control(what is not standard pagage) driven 160K they went around 480K in trade in,, i said call me then when u have better offer and they called back after few weeks and risen up to 520K,, i told them again call me back and with in this week we are talking abt 600K and i wait for they call,,, i told them that i have money, BUT they need to give me what i want from my car,, and it was same when i got my zafira,, it took abt 5mths when they finally agreed,,, as i tell them always im not hurry,, you just give me a call when you are ready to give me what i want,,, so far it has been working.

But one get much better price when selling it in private,,im just dont bother to hassle, if they dont rise they offer i will continue driving with zafira.

I'm in the same position as you. I have a 1.8 Optra and it is a great car but I would like to trade her up to the top line Captiva.

They offered me 370 k which is way below the market value (about 100 k short) but as the phone calls become more frequent I think that they will give in as they are not selling many Captivas cash. Being patient pays off.
