Where To Buy Age Of Conan In Bangkok?

Hi Guys,

Im a keen MMORPG player, and having got really bored of WoW, I am really looking forward to playing Age of Conan.

Does anyone know where I can buy a copy in Bangkok?

Maybe a bit too wishful, but are there any stores stocking the pre-order early access packages?

probably mbk in the "Original" only shop but not within a week or 2 of release. Get it quicker through play-asia.com or if you are prepared to pay the shipping the quickest way to get it is www.cdromshop.com - not cheap but gets to you in 3 days here in Bangkok. (They ship on day of release)

Probably best to wait the few weeks for it to arrive here as I'd bet the launch will have more than a few problems.

Also as the game went gold a few weeks ago there will likely be a 1GB patch or so to download before you can play!

Still the beta reviews have said the game is great (when the servers are stable that is!)

I got a friend in Oz to order it for me, they are doing an "Early Access" program where you can download the client (mines downloading now) - 14gb - and get 3 days head-start and an extra 10days game play for $5 US.

I'm not sure if my friend would get anymore copies for me (i will ask) but if anyone can get themselves a game key, i'm happy to burn a copy of the game install for people. Alternativly you can download the early access client yourself here: http://funcom.cachefly.net/AoC-US-EarlyAccess.exe - its a P2P downloader, the exe is only a mg or so, but when you run it it will connect to the special torrent they have running and you can download the full client. Might make life easier for some of you. For the EU version use this link: http://funcom.cachefly.net/AoC-EU-EarlyAccess.exe

This should patch upto the full version...

/Edit: the download is free, you pay the $5US for the 3 day headstart and the extra 10days gameplay

Age of Conan is still in beta phase, I'm downloading it via fileplanet, but am only likely to just take a brief look. I dont want to get too invested in it, only for the servers to rest and find my self having to restart from scratch when it officially goes gold.

Open Beta finished on the 10th (11th local time) - if your downloading that then your wasting your time. Closed Beta will run for a few more days but the official Early Access live date is the 17th and General Release is the 20th (23rd for Europe) - so at best Closed Beta has 2, maybe 3 more days (the fileplanet build is Open Beta BTW, i know ive got it downloaded already). They open the patch servers on the 14th to allow people to patch the early access users to patch to the current release build.

It was gold a few weeks back, disks have already been pressed and are being sent out to the distributors etc.

Basically its live/playable in 3-4 days time. Just hope i can finish the early access download in time, hehe im not getting my full bandwidth on their downloader

Actually, if you wanna get precise, Technical Beta came first, then Closed (general) Beta followed by Open Beta...

... either way its a moot point as all beta's will be finished within the next day or two.

full game is now live but there is a whoppoing 15.4 gig patch to DL before you can play!!!

nah there isnt that much of a patch, try restarting your patcher, there is about 1.5gb to download (I'm told)

I cant even get connected to the patch servers, i get a 403 (forbidden) error in my patch log. Support Ticket open for over 23 hrs and no reply.

ok, i'm having a serious connection problem, cant get the patcher to connect to the patch servers... keep getting a 403 error in my log files.

I was able to get into the Open Beta, so im fairly sure its not the ISP or a Thailand related problem... and their support team are pretty cr@p - my advice, dont bother for now Ian, i will let you know when/if i get these problems solved and get into game, until then, save your ca$h and give AoC a wide birth

Their Tech support is swamped, with tickets taking a loooong time to get answered (read: days) - from my experience the launch was problematic for some, but providing you dont have to contact them its a reasonable game. I had some god-aweful connection issues from within Thailand, but have found a work around for now until the problem can be addressed properly. When its running its a stunning game, with amazing graphics and a little different gameplay to what your used to on a MMO. I'm still in early levels (early teens) but i'm enjoying it so far. I'm playing on the Oceanic Preferred PvE server (Gwahlur) so if you get on, head over to that server and say hi

Yeah i was in the Open Beta earlier in the month, the game is pretty cool, and the latency issues from thailand dont seem too bad on PvE

/Edit: If anyone wants to buy a retail key online somewhere or through a friend in the US/AU etc, i'm happy to drop the files onto a DVD (or two) to save you having to download 15+ gb of client. I know there are some 'companies' on places like E-Bay that will buy the game on your behalf and email you the retail cd keys. Might be a quicker, cheaper option for some of you... PM me if your interested... all i ask in return is you come join the same server as me

just buy the EU version of Age of Conan........... but going back home to Thailand in September..... should ther be any south pacific servers ? . .

Yes I guess like in many other mmorpgs you can play on an us / oceanic server but not a euro server. The pings to us and oceanic are better anyway. Euro version will only work on euro servers. That's also because of some distribution deals such companies have and whatever...

Woa... that would be so whack. I already couldn't play Lotro because of similar problems. I really really hope at least WAR (Mythic/EA) won't do anything like this. What should I do? Install a proxy script on my server in the states? So Wolfie you can't play right now?

everything seems to be working fine, with around 350 ping. The "recomended" oceanic server is Gwahlur for PVE, and Bloodspire for PVP.

I cna play, but the game is laggy as h*ll, i get regular lag spikes that hit 10k latency, i experimented yesterday and rerolled, its strange how the starting area is unaffected by the lag, its only when you start getting to Tortage that the lag starts apeparing... my main character also gets it in the next city... makes this game very difficult to play as its a lot faster paced

The starter area is solo play so it just runs locally on your computer or maybe in a separate instance on their server. I think this is until level 20 the case. So basically just after that you play with other people in the world. This is the information I have but correct me if I'm wrong.

Because of the lag I thought about rolling a caster class but it kind of sucks anyway because part of the fun in this game should be the combat system. The fatalities look great!
