Armstrong's famous space walk, seen by millions of viewers on July 20, 1969, is among transmissions that NASA has failed to turn up in a year of searching, spokesman Grey Hautaloma said.

"We haven't seen them for quite a while. We've been looking for over a year { } and they haven't turned up, { }" Hautaloma said.

The tapes also contain data about the health of the astronauts and the condition of the spacecraft.

In all, some 700 boxes of transmissions from the Apollo lunar missions are missing { }, he said....

The material was held by the National Archives but returned to NASA sometime in the late 1970s, he said.

"We're looking for paperwork to see where they last were," he said.

to those who actually believed that the Americans went to the Moon, this news (filed by Reuters yesterday) should come as a shocker that 700 boxes of material recording mankind's greatest "scientific achievement" have been "misplaced" by the same government who proudly

claimed credit for that "scientific achievement". Read "misplaced" as missing, quite certainly, permanently.

A 1999 Gallup poll indicates that some 89% of Americans (what Gallup describes as an "overwhelming majority") believe the Apollo landings happened as reported while 6% believe that 'the US goverment staged or faked the landings.'

At a time when more and more people, even within America, are beginning to question the authenticity of the Moon landing, especially in the light of conspiracy theories and documentaries on the subject being highlighted by the media in recent years, the US government would certainly find it convenient to have their "original recordings" go missing.

so funny ! 700 boxes (not some sinlge tape) of important scientific data (we, AMERICANS, first and BTW whoever landed and WALKED on Moon) - MISSING ? whuahahahahaha !

and now it is a good chance to prove that it EVER even happened - thechnology since those days has realy made a GIANT LEAP - so, it IF with those "stone age" like equipment they were able to perform such a miracle - that should be much more easier, a kids' play realy, to REPEAT the feat , huh ? WHY NOT send another expedition, especially in the light of "missing" data (won't that be great to replace it by fresh NEW data?), and LAND humans on Moon. if it was possible almost 40 years ago (only thinking of computers - what SIZE they were that time? ) - certainly it must be very possible NOW ! just a common sense !

You know what, about 3-4 years ago there was a television show on here in the US and this show was out to prove that we never landed on the moon. They really believed we hadn't even gone there. I watched the whole show and they made some really great arguments and had some great proof. I dont remember much of what they said but the thing I distinctly remember was when they showed the moon landing video. They pointed out in the video that when the guys were bouncing around on the surface of the moon, that if you paid attention to the background that it never changed. The background always stayed the same even when the men were moving about. As I watched the video, it was true. It never changed. They surmised that the whole thing had been videoed inside a movie set. I believe it after watching that.

Who cares if they lost the tape....the idiot screwed up his lines anyway.

Well, since your title also implies a conspiracy theory, that is twice you suggest that man has never landed on the moon.

not title - SUB-title ! titel is the same as original Reuters article. and that title reflects the REAL fact - that 700 boxes of rare, unique and important scientific data is somehow missing.

and again - it was implied or offered as sort of implication in the article itself. if evidence is missing - than how to prove it has happened? and hwo and why such evidence would be missing at all, especially so MUCH evidence ? say, original film records of bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki (which was more than 20 years BEFORE Moon landing) are still availible, right? as are many even earlier documentaries (as, say, those first railways in WIld West or what else?) made on even lesser qualtiy materials ..... like this 1902 B&W movie coinsidentally related to Moon subject : A Trip to the Moon

There is evidence that people went to the moon. There are a set of "Corner Cubes" which are a set of prisms that reflect light exactly on the same angle it came.

It s a regular expreiment to fire a laser with the assistance of a large telescope to then measure the exact distance from that point to the surface of the moon.

So if Man did not go to the moon, then how did the corner cubes get there ?

PS. I am not a conspiracy theorist in this at all, it's just the way they think they can find an answer to any question and make it sound plausable, which is what I feel is the case of the "no moon landing theory".
