Have to agree with OP. I use an ipad and i love it for browsing etc. But extended reading I still reach for the kindle 2. It just feels much better and reads much better. +1 for Kindle 2 for ebook reading.

who is your ISP and which product are using etc.

It's a $200+ premium
3G 64GB ipad when they arrived in MBK was 45k for the first week!
Yeh but lets say u order one from the US pay for fedex and customs take that charge out of the equation its still a good deal customs vat and fedex would set you back $100 approx (Depending your customs declaration - could be a LOT more) on a $829 apple price so total is 929 to import yourself = 30k. Not forgetting the 10 day wait in us before apple ships it and another 3-4 days to get here. 2 week wait or pay 4k more and get it today.
If the drop to 34k in MBK is correct that is a substantial drop from 10 days ago 39000ish.
oh and would not buy into the July release date in Thailand for the ipad. HK and Singapore have not even got it yet and Thailand is usually a month or two behind them on iphone "Type" products for official release

Actually, you can buy the iPad today at MBK (3G 64GB) for 34.000 baths.
Interesting...which store is selling it that cheap. That is a VERY good price for the 3G 64g in Thailand as the US price is 27000thb.

My money is on only Itunes Store purchased items will be on the cloud. Cannot see them hosting my 1.1TB of media on their cloud for me and I don't fancy uploading it either ha
-
Capo - your prices are way too high
Even if I'll import iPad from US it will cost me 18 000 THB for cheepest model. 22 000 or maybe less on eBay.
I didnt check MBK, but they usually have everything cheeper then eBay.
etc etc
24 000 THB ? no way.
His prices are more expensive than MBK but not by a whole lot. maybe 2-3k cheaper at MBK.

No condo's have it in sukhumvit 24 after a further call. Which is crazy as the soi hosts some of the most expensive condos in Bangkok. The distance to the DSLAM for soi 24 is perfect also for VDSL. Strange rollout plan by True.
-
Just tried to order the 50mb package. Not available in Sukhumvit 20-24 area.
-
I think the 50-65k price range at MBK will be around for sometime until they get more stock.
Have not checked yet but will next week that it will be cheaper to get Air Asia flight to Hong Kong taxi to mongkok sincere podium taxi back to the airport get the return flight same day and still save 10k over the MBK price

of course they are all built in china but with country specific firmware and basebands.
by sourced i mean purchased in that country:
US purchased phones are locked to AT&T
UK phones are sold factory unlocked if purchased from apple store.
French phones are also factory unlocked.
MBK is selling UK purchased iphone 4 factory unlocked at those prices.
-
Prices I got today from MBK:
UK sourced factory unlocked:
16GB 55,000
32GB 65,000
Enjoy!

Don't have any problem with international bandwidth i get 15-15.7mb 24/7 to usa on True 16mb premium product.

I bought yesterday a Iphone 4 16 GB via the UK apple website for 23000 Baht.
Luckily a friend of mine is coming to Thailand is willing to take the phone with him.
No way I'm paying 60000 Baht for a Iphone.
It is a good phone but not that good.
Shame about the 3 week ship time worldwide from Apple now. Wonder if thats due to demand or hardware modification...

DNS Servers...use google or openDNS. Google is faster from Thailand.
-
Been using shipito for years from $10 items to $6000 items never paid more VAT or import duty over the declared customs value on the dec. Secondly not had one item opened or confiscated by customs.
Probably received around 40-50 items in the last 2 years by shipito.com to give u some idea. Is it a risk? perhaps but that puts it in perspective as to the chances.

Upgraded 3GS here. No lag not slow???
-
MBK probably first week in July at a educated guess.

-
Never buy those scam unlocks. You can do it free! check out the dev-team website etc. Cannot jailbreak 3GS on 4.0 yet i believe.
-
Use Google DNS servers. Much better than True's efforts or indeed OpenDNS servers. However Google DNS is much faster from Thailand than OpenDNS pings around 40ms for me to Google DNS.

Every tech person I've spoken to has slated it as being too expensive & too exclusive
It's no more expensive than the top of the line competitors windows mobile or Android phones. Not exactly sure what you mean by too exclusive.

Nespresso Machine Doesnt Work Anymore
in Western Food in Thailand
Posted · Edited by negreanu
Foodbyphone are now selling the Lavazza Blue capsule coffee machines and coffee capsules. Interestingly enough the machine prices are not marked up by foodbyphone and are being sold at the same price as the chitlom dealer.
Now, If you were to join the Foodbyphone VIP club on your 2nd/3rd/4th order you get 30% off. So ordering the coffee machine and say 200 capsules will get you a saving of over 7000thb less the cost of the vip membership 1200hb.
The coffee itself is on par with Nespresso if not slightly better crema. And you can easily get capsules in BKK now.
