What doesn't?

Singapore. A lot of opportunity there.

The warning should have been to stay away from bar girls. Too late now. Stupid.

My wife writes English quite well. Took time and effort.

Sounds like they've been learning from the Vatican

Thailand bears no resemblance to a democracy. If they think it does they are kidding themselves.

My wife's friend (thai) got nailed for her own personal Chanel bag she was wearing over her shoulder and it was not a new bag.

If the western world starts to view Thailand as unsafe then we won't be coming. Unfortunately that reputation is spreading quickly justly or unjustly. I know we are staying home for a while and see how things work out over the next few years. I love visiting Thailand so hopefully things get better.

According to my wife and her family it is getting worse for foreigners in Thailand. She doesn't even want to go back home anymore because she doesn't feel we are safe there. This is a marked change as she has always looked forward to her annual trip home.

Thailand is still good with old men abusing under aged women though. Let's not get ridiculous with all this regulating right?

Here's a nice little tidbit from one of my wife's friends who just traveled over to Thailand to visit her family. Apparently customs at Swampy tried to charge a 30% duty to bring her own personal designer handbag in. They negotiated it down but just one more instance of Thailand shooting itself in the foot with its own corruption.

Another reason not to go there.

Thailand is getting a lot of negative press. My cousin owns a travel agency and she says Thailand has become a no go for many clients these days. She cites safety concerns as the biggest factor. She is also not recommending Thailand and is instead directing clients to Singapore. Thailand is going to regret a lot of decisions in the next few years. We aren't going back.

My wife advised me this week that we have made our last trip to Thailand. Several of her Thai friends here in the US have said the same. She said from what she was hearing back home she had no desire to go back and didn't feel I was safe there anymore! The family will need to come here if they want to see her. Better build an addition!

I don't think Thai attitudes have changed as much as westerners are starting to see it for what it is.

With all the great food in Thailand why would anyone eat that crap! Thais are getting noticeably fatter and the junk food is mainly to blame.

Take the drive around Lake Tahoe if you are there in good weather. Worth the 3 hour detour from the coast!

10,000 baht is sticker shock? Seriously? A high demand consultant? Haha.

Anybody have a place at Black Mountain Golf Club? Thinking of checking it out for a vacation home and just starting my due diligence. Any thoughts?

A tad insecure I'd say. Maybe she just enjoys it and you should support her.

Stay with your education! It's worth a few years of boredom. I hated law school and wanted to drop out many times but I hung in there and it changed not only my life but my family's life as well because I was easily able to provide for them beyond their dreams. Do not let boredom become a victor over you! There is plenty of time to go back.

You can't make this stuff up!

Haha funny!

No outrage over under aged minors being sexually abused nightly in the bars.
What has surprised you in Thailand?

I like the food and there is some beautiful beaches and scenery but other than that Thailand doesn't leave any more of an impression on me than any other 3rd world country. As I've said before, it's Mexico without the work ethic.
