  1. I am in the process of booking an appointment with : https://bangkokpattayahospital.com/doctor/siriporn-srirojanakul-m/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some posters suggested chlamydia is a possibility. Do you think I should go to LifeCare and get tested before I see the doctor ? They also offered some type of covid test. Should I just go to this doctor and explain my issues and let her order whatever tests are needed. I am looking for easy, not cost saving. Thank you for your help. I appreciate all the posters offering suggestions.
  2. Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of that ...Take care.
  3. In 2012, I had eyelid surgery(cosmedic) at PB Hospital. In 2014 I had a colonoscopy that was very clean with no polyps seen or removed at Pattaya Bangkok Hospital. Before that, maybe around 2009 in the USA preparing for my Thailand adventure.
  4. Thanks. I did get 3 covid vaccines back when they were giving them out. Not much point in talking about covid vaccines as the covid story is certainly not clear. As far as I know, covid has changed over the years so really no reason to even talk about it.
  5. I would do the same in my home country. When the fever passes and I feel fine, I just go about my life. The only reason I mention this now is I had a 3-4 day bout of fever 2 weeks ago and now it is starting again. Sure, if my arm was broken I would immediately go to eh Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. I am afraid of spending a lot of time with doctors doing trial and error test looking for info. If you ever saw the TV series 'House' they would do tests, one by one, so they could eliminate possible causes. Yes, in the end they always found some rare illness and the patient was successfully treated. Not sure I want to be that guy as I have no other symptoms.
  6. I have followed the insurance threads for years with interest. I last was covered under my ex-wifes policy back in the USA until 2009. Since then, living in Thailand I have self insured following Sherly's financial recommendations. There seems to be a lot of confusion and conflicting info on what insurance company to buy and what Pattaya agent can handle this. The only thing I am sure of is not to go with a Thai company. As a 70 year old, can anyone recommend a Pattaya agent and a good non-Thai company. I am not concerned about the cost but want to be sure of getting paid if-when I put in a claim. Please respond if you have actually gotten paid as I have read many posters talking good about their company but later mention that they have never put in a claim. Thank for any info.
  7. Thanks for your info. Could you name any such infections that act as you describe. Thanks
  8. Not a big fan of hospitals and all their tests. It's not about the money. I am a big believer in the body's ability to heal itself. I have been fortunate and have been very healthy for 70 years. I don't have a death wish.
  9. No, I didn't get tested for STDs.
  10. I only take these meds when the fever get high. Weeks or months past by and I don't take these meds and feel fine. I was hoping the body will heal itself.
  11. Strange, very fast, drop in fever temp. Within one hour it dropped from 38.9 down to a normal reading of 37. Not a good nights sleep, feeling cold at times and also hot with sweats. I woke up today with a lower temp. 36.5 ...No other systomes to mention.
  12. I have been getting recurring high fevers with no other symptoms. Usually last for 3-5 days and I have controlled it with Tylenol and ibuprofen. The fever has been in the 38.5--39.8 range and is lowered by taking those meds. Other than feeling achy and sweating at times, I have no other symptoms. I am having this problem now and also had it for a few days about 2 weeks ago. I had a similar bout a few months ago. A couple of days ago I had the best blood/urine test package I could buy at LifeCare and all was normal. I am 70 years old, non smoker, 1-2 beers at night. I am at a very normal weight and I try to go to the gym regularly. I did not get tested for covid. I do not have insurance so I would need to pay cash for all treatments which is not a problem. Anyone had anything similar ? I hope Sheryl with see this and offer some suggestions. Thanks for any help.
  13. Yes they are. I read a while ago, when the Thai Central bank raised its interest rate to 2%, they told the banks that it is not necessary for them to rate up their rates for their general customers. Currently the Thai central bank rate is 2.5% but you will find it hard to get anywhere near that. When I first came here in 2009, the Thai banks would rate their rates the same as the USA Fed did, buy no more. Definitely not good for the retirement visa people. It almost pays to use an agent but I was never comfortable with the illegality of that.
  14. Thank you Very much for your very detailed answer. I am Very surprised to learn that Pacific Cross is a Thai company as 5 years ago I went into the AA insurance offices , in Pattaya, and was recommended Pacific Cross even though I specifically told them I do Not want a Thai company. I asked about April Intl. or other Intl companies. The agent told me that he personally used Pacific Cross. This AA insurance office in Pattaya was always recommended highly in several insurance threads. Live and learn. It's a complicated world and hard to get straight answers. Some friends have recommended that I move back to the USA so I can get free Medicaid and not have to deal with all this insurance stuff. I have been living in Thailand for 14 years and have been happy here. Thanks again for your help. You are a most wonderful addition to this board. Your knowledge always impresses me.
  15. Question: I am looking to buy insurance for the first time. I am 69 with no health issues ever. I have never been hospitalized and take no daily medication. From following all the threads it looks like I should be insuring with April International or Pacific Cross. I am not concerned about the costs and don't need the cheapest. I can easily self insure as per Sheryl's financial recommendations. The reason I am now considering buying insurance compared to self insuring is I don't like the requirement of keeping a large amount of money in a Thai bank, earning very little interest. I believe that if I was to take out the self insurance money from the Thai bank and get that same money earning a decent return, that might earn me close to what the insurance will cost me. My questions are, which company would be the easiest to get a policy? I live full time in Pattaya, so which broker should I see ? I am looking for a policy that would cover me for major events. A high deductible would be OK. Thanks for any help or suggestions.
  16. Of these two, which would give the strongest sleep assistance taken at recommended dosages ? Would Doxylamine leave you feeling less groggy the next morning being the half life is shorter ?
  17. Seat belts should be required to be worn at all times, except for going to the bathroom.
  18. A while ago I read that the basic assumption of the immigration staff is to say 'no' unless you can convince the immigration staff that he should change that to a 'yes'. I have no info or facts to back this up, just read it somewhere. Good Luck.
  19. Thanks to all posters for their help and info.
  20. I have a 10 year old Mitsubishi fridge that works great. The gasket on the door is cracked. Anyone have any info on who might come out and replace it and the cost involved. I am located on soi Khao Talo, dark side. The refrigerator is about 12 cubic feet. I paid about 12,000 baht for it a long time ago so I don't know if this is a worthwhile thing to do. I don't feel any cold air leaking out and it is not sweating around the door area. Possible , this is just one of those things that is better left alone ??? I don't want to hunt around for the part and do it myself. Anyone know of any shops that sell and deliver second hand fridges ? Thanks for any info.
  21. Thanks to all poster for their help and suggestions. I have a lot to check out. I appreciate the help.
  22. No, the water pump runs the same as always. Not so often.
  23. I'm not sure I follow what your saying. After the tank is full, I have turned off the supply valve. After awhile, the tank will become empty. Other than the supply pipe, the only other pipe is at the bottom of the water tank and goes directly to the water pump. All the area and pipes are dry. The plastic tank is sitting inside the patio area on a tile floor, which is dry. So much water is gone, and to where. Without a trace or wet area. Very strange. My Thai lady is thinking 'ghosts'...
  24. It's a townhouse, not a condo, and yes I have access to all the pipeworks.
