This was a totally incomprehensible act. It dogged my thoughts for many months....children asleep for goodness' sake....sheer sadness and madness. How can parents ever get over something as inexplicable as this?

I split with my first wife after nearly 20 years of marriage. I lived alone for the next 10 years or so, dating like a dog with two dicks (as they say). I loved living alone. When I put my keys down I could find them again, I lost nothing at all. But all good things come to an end and I met a girl here in the East (not in Thailand) and shacked up with her for my retirement. I don't think I could survive by myself now. I've no interest now in the type of friends who get pissed up every night. My hobbies are non mainstream, I don't ever watch TV it bores me to tears; I haven't watched a movie in years, they bore me to tears; I fish and I read lots of books (I was in Kindles top 3% of readers last year to my surprise) and I travel, with the wife. I have even stopped looking for other women and am happy with what I have, she's a happy woman and her happiness has infected me on a fundamental level. I love making her happy, and I dread her dying before me.

I've learned on here that there is no point in putting forward any reasoned arguments. The vast majority of folk on here are immune to reason. They get their news from the BBC and CNN and believe it implicitly, and do no further reading around the subject. Most have lived in Thailand for years and years and can hardly speak a word of the language. Intellectual dullards, dead from the neck up.

Please quote where I have have said any media is without bias. That is not what I believe or advocate. All media is biased to some extent, which is why I like to read a lot of different media that have different biases so I have some context around the likely truth. Some sources are so unreliable that I can no longer read them, except in unusual cases. For example I cannot think of a reliable western mainstream media source for events in Ukraine. I scan them and occasionally pick up something that has some nugatory value. I prefer alternative media like ZH, RT, and the like for world events. They carry stories that MSM don't carry and the majority of propaganda is by omission......MSM simply don't carry certain stories.....want and example Hunter Biden's lap top story was surpassed for years by the FBI and influenced the outcome of the 2020 election (imho) Anyway, you and I have nothing to talk about so I want to end any further discussion, you are convinced that what you read in the MSM is true and reality, and I KNOW it is not. You have to earn trust every day. You earn trust by doing what you are expected to do and by not engaging in corruption. To me, at least, this seems impossible with the current crop of people who run the police, and the regular police officers themselves who are drug dealers, gambling den owners and girlie bar owners or collect money from such businesses.

With the Thai tax changes due next year, I'm thinking of becoming non tax resident ie spending less that 180 days a year here. I have a residence in another country and so spending time outside here is relatively easy. The other thing I am thinking about doing it to renounce my US passport and use my US passport for entry/exit into Thailand. If I die here then the hospital will notify the US embassy instead of the UK embassy. I have no assets to speak of in the UK now and will transfer all over here before the end of the year, leaving all my assets in the US, Thailand and a third country. I will also apply to change my domicile from the UK as I have not lived there for over 40 years, will have no assets there, and no close relatives.

What you say is a non sequitur. Many MSM outlets like the BBC are state sponsored media and are biased.....the BBC was started as a propaganda channel. They carry no ads in the UK, but their output on foreign affairs tis pure propaganda. Other notoriously biased channels like CNN carry advertising and are nominally independent but carry the news and bias that the UJS government demands, otherwise they lose access to press briefings etc. One's opinions come from what they read and watch....anyone who watches the BBC or CNN has a totally slanted and false view of the Ukraine war. More discerning people who take the time to seek out other points of view have a broader and more realistic view of world events.

My wife crashed her car and it was in the shop for a month or so having the front end replaced. The car was not very old 15 months or so. When we finally got the car back it looked like new but drove like a horse and cart. I took it into the vehicle dealer and got a story back that I needed new shock absorbers......at 15 months old I asked? They said the shocks on the car were not the original manufacturers equipment (Ford) and that they were very old. Now Like the OP, the car was dealer serviced, and no one else had access to the car. But like to OP, am I prepared to go through the hassle with a local gang of thieves who might burn down my house if I complain?

Personally I find Al Jazeera one of the better, more believable, less biased websites. It iOS far superior to any offering from the Main Stream Media in US, UK or European (English versions). Obviously it has predictable Middle East biases as one would expect.

What, a story from the Guardian negative towards supporters of Ukraine. Our maybe Polish are now up as targets after their recent spat with Ukraine. I started reading the Guardian in 6th form and it became 'my newspaper' read every day for more than half a century. I still now read what tiny bits of it I can stomach, like John Grace or Nils Partly. But the vast majority of it is unreadable for me, as it deals with women as victims, blacks as victims, trans as victims, gays as victims, Indians as victims, migrants as victims harassed by Indian aggressors like Rishi and Suella. The news about the Ukraine is so totally false and unbelievable I simply can't believe it (sic). All Ukraine statements are taken as gospel truth and anything fro Russia has a disclaimer more or less saying Russians are liars. In short, apart from football, a (very) few columnists and some culture (book reviews) it has sadly become worse than the tabloid rags.

Without a functioning police force, you cannot implement any changes here in Thailand. One a more controversial note. I do wonder why Thailand signs top to any of these climate change initiatives. They are costly and damaging to Thailand's economy. The first world, US, UK and Germany caused the deterioration in climate, let them pay for it via reparations. Then they start moving all the filthy industries like steel making et al to China so they simply change the source of the pollutions while their consumers carry on polluting. The Third world need a leader like India to tell the west to go to hell with their climate change crap....it's difficult for China to take the lead as they are profiting vastly from EV vehicles.
