Was elephant pant wearing record bid cause of fashion panel resignation?
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I do like these elephant pants. Unfortunately Thai sizes are way too small for my enormous girth so I will not be a buyer anytime soon. -
May I ask a question that has been troubling me and might have been clarified at the event. I have read that if you have statements for bank accounts in the US that show say $50,000K on 31/12/23, can you bring this amount here tax free in 2024. Is this true after the clarification at the meeting? Secondly, does the money have to come from the same bank account? Or can it come from a different bank account? And can it come later than 2024 ie say in 2025.

British Tourist Dies After Fall from Pattaya Hotel
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
There are too many farang people 'falling' from high floors on blocks of flats, in my opinion. It would be really in treating to get extra information such as what % were blind drunk; what % were on drugs and what drugs were they taking. Strictly as precaution to other folk who are in danger of falling from great heights. When my Alzheimer's really kicks in I think I'll rent a high floor apartment in a Pattaya condo for a day. -
British Tourist Dies After Fall from Pattaya Hotel
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
What would happen if you fell 10 feet from the ground floor into the root cellar? Why don't you move to get away from the thumping bass? Askin' for a friend. -
UK Considers Aircraft Carrier Deployment to Red Sea as Tensions Rise
retarius replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Britain has two aircraft carriers.....one is in the dock being fixed. It was supposed to go to NATO's scary war games that will make Russia shiver. It can't go. Will they send the one from the Red Sea or will it take too long to get there, or would they prefer it remain where it is and kill people not able to defend against it? The Americans are complaining that Britain is not ready for the next big conflict with XXXX fill in the space. BTW what does one call an armed person who kills people not able to defend against him? -
Srettha to call Cambodian PM about air pollution from his country
retarius replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Sounds like a distraction to me. Why not sort the problem out in Thailand first, and then call Cambodia. Doing nothing at all in Thailand to combat pollution and calling Cambodia is a pitiful response to Thailand's problem. We all see the problem on a daily basis fields set alight by farmers, with the police nowhere to be seen. -

Constitutional Court Already Turned Into ‘Superpower’ Agency: Academic
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Given the amount of power this court wields the appointees should be directly elected by the people, not appointed, by a politician. -
Massive extortion network within the govt itself now probed by police
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This isn't true. You can be extorted for having an affair, or you can be extorted by having the extorters threaten to, for example, harm your family. -
Nok Air’s Boeing 737 max 8 plans hit turbulence
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Go away what do I want to read an eye chart for? I've made up my mind already that I will avoid Boeing planes. I'm going back to the US in a few weeks and no Boeing planes for me Airbus 380s all the way, none of your Boeing crap. -
Nok Air’s Boeing 737 max 8 plans hit turbulence
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes Boeing involved in more accidents, with numerically hull and fatal. What you are missing is Boeing's flagrant abuse of self certification. If it's all the same to you, I'd feel safer in an Airbus. -

A police probe....so there will be a huge cover up to defend the higher ups who benefit from the extortions? -
Court summons for airbnb review
retarius replied to mr_lob's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Airbnb should be banned imho. Skirting rental laws is not a business model. To the OP, it serves you right. I hope you lose the case\. -
Nok Air’s Boeing 737 max 8 plans hit turbulence
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'll be avoiding Non Air for the foreseeable future until they ditch these deathtraps. There are plenty of Airbus planes that can be used, so why use planes from Boeing who have abused the self certification system time and time again?- 64 replies

The Constitution at fault or what?
retarius replied to Thailand's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
I don't have much skin in the game TBH. I just wish the US constitution would give us candidates that weren't senile and/or corrupt, like Biden and Trump. There may a serious fault with the Constitution that it vomits up these vile candidates instead of decent people these days, and the last 2 elections (and possibly the one in 2024) have all been between unsuitable candidates. I can't see the SCOTUS disqualifying Trump. Nor can I see there Senate impeaching Biden. The single party system where two parties squabble over minor issues to differentiate themselves has become a farce. The US is not a democracy, not has it been one for a long, long time. It is time for a rethink, which is the appeal of Trump, he might do something unpredictable but he didn't do it last time. I favour him because of his stance on not starting any new wars and genuinely trying to make peace in the conflicts that exist, although I doubt his grandiose claims, and like the famed Abraham Accords of his last administration were highly biased against the Palestinians. His 'easy to win' trade war with China wasn't won either. Biden on the other hand will raise the risk of WW3 as he caves to the Pentagon and MIC at every turn. Putin claimed the other day that the Patriot missile battery that shot the POW plane down had US staffers manning the battery. If true, this is casus bellum and the start of WW3 if Putin backs up the claim and pursues it to its logical conclusion. -
Thai emission laws transform: What drivers need to know
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What irony, the statue of lady Justice wearing a blindfold....here in Thailand, the hub of selective prosecution and justice. I wonder why they don't have a police crackdown with massive fines on lorries and pick-ups belching out vast amounts of black smoke, seen everywhere on Thai roads, weaving in and out of traffic. Impound any vehicle that doesn't meet emission standards.- 69 replies

Slightly off topic I suppose. I don't have a lot of experience with YouTube and its algorithm but I have a lot with Amazon's algo for Kindle books. I buy a couple of e-books a week and read them. Amazon on an almost daily basis sends 'suggestions' for me to buy. I am staggered that almost none of the suggested books are anything like I either want to read or would consider buying....worse than a broadcast mailer, yet it claims to represent suggestions based on past purchases. I've had a Kindle for 12 years and have an extensive buying record for them to access. Example: I rarely read female authors and am fed up with feminist topics or lesbian themes, yet almost every single book they suggest is by female authors writing about homosexual love or feminist struggles to get ahead. BARF. I contrast this to Spotify, who are dead on with their selections....I wonder why Amazon don't purchase Spotify's algo.

Ukraine Invites Chinese President Xi Jinping to Peace Talks
retarius replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Ukraine
I see many of the commenters here 'get' what is going on in Ukraine. Sadly, for the sake of world peace a plurality of commenters are so dumbed down by Pentagon propaganda to be unable to see basic logic.
