  1. My view, which isn't popular, is that Russia has won this conventional arms conflict. If NATO joins they fray and succeeds in driving Russia out of Crimea and Donbass, there is no way the conflict will not end up in nuclear war. If this assumption is true then, be sure that US marines will not be leading NATO in driving Russians out of Crimea or Donbass, and the EU will not do it by themselves. So we can either accept the Russia victory and pretty much the status quo in territory (although perhaps Russia wants Odessa as well) with Russia owning 20 to 25 % of what used to be Ukraine, or we can have WW3. Which do you want?
  2. Under a multilateral agreement known as the Minsk accords.
  3. I sincerely hope it does hurt world trade. Someone has to do something about the daily massacres and possible genocide of Palestinians and the Houthis have found a great way of hurting Israel without killing. A win-win using capitalism against itself and driving insurance and shipping rates up.
  4. Yes that's an astute bit of thinking. He will need independents and switches to vote for him. Biden is a weak candidate, he's senile and a bit stupid...if he dares debate Trump he'll get thrashed and even his voters will question why they should turn out, remember Nixon sweating? I somehow think the election result will be left for the courts to decide.
  5. RIP to the young lady concerned. You did not deserve to lose your life at so young an age. Is a shooting a brutal murder? Not being critical here, just asking if brutal is the right word. I am unsure Using the English language, I would have used the word 'brutal' to describe something that made the victim suffer....like multiple stab wounds or beaten to death with a blunt instrument, rather than something that killed them instantly, something that involves the killer in the destruction more than pulling a trigger. I have found recently that I do use some words inappropriately and editors of media are usually better acquainted with language that I am.
  6. Sure Sondhi is a very reliable source of information about things Thaksin......NOT.
  7. I 100% agree. I was shocked at the prices here in Thailand 3000 baht for polyester and who can sleep on polyester sheets....not me that's for sure. What I did was bought 4 sets of top quality bedding the last time I want back to the US. I'm going to the US again in March with a very large luggage allowance and will top up.
  8. Yes he does.....not for for purpose some may say.
  9. If you didn't go to them for cataracts but for vision correction it seems to imply you were not aware of your cataracts. Is this the case? Or were you aware and wanted vision correction but to leave the cataracts as they were? The other quotes you got from Rutnin and Prince Lamphun, what were they for? I am looking at Rutnin myself for some presbyopia vision work.....they seem to be a very good outfit. I'd be inclined to go for the best where my vision is concerned. I know an Aussie guy who had life long vision issues and wore glasses with thick bottle bottom lenses. He's a young man, under 50 still and he had them done maybe 8 years ago at Bumrungrad. Cost a lot of money but he's working and has insurance.
  10. It was indeed, she was crowned the car of the border issue.....I'm not sure she ever even went there, but I might have missed it in the media.
  11. I didn't bother claiming my UK pension. I couldn't be arsed with the paperwork. I'm 70 now so I think it is too late to claim. A pittance anyway, enough maybe to keep you alive but nothing more.
  12. I buy ladies drinks, but only the girls I select, not some girl foisted on me. I expect to get robbed, but that's ok if I am having a good time with some mates.....do I go behind or upstairs for short time, no I just go to flirt and I'm up front with the girls I ask for, so she doesn't waste her time.
  13. I agree 100 or even 120%. But that's what Trump negotiated with Mexico....and Biden can't do that because it would make Trump look good and Biden stupid wouldn't it?......or perhaps that is what you are thinking.
  14. If you are a business minnow swimming with Amazon sharks I am not surprised that you would not be allowed to make any profit.
  15. Why would Hamas accept a ceasefire in return for hostages if the ceasefire has an expiry? What would be to stop Isreal renewing their inhuman brutality when they get the hostages back?
  16. Where are the 25000, sorry now 26000, innocents slaughtered by Israel? In this video I saw a some fighters firing assault rifle and a handful of people injured, if it was shown to the ICJ they didn't see it as any justification for Israel's current brutality. And neither do I.
  17. You stop short of what the obvious implication of this is i.e. that Israeli intelligence saw an opportunity here and allowed it to happen thinking that they would enjoy worldwide support for their genocide. It hasn't;t turned out that way. Thank God for South Africa.
  18. Ozi, it's US politics isn't it? They do it all the time and defence bills get larded with pork barrel projects. I like it when it helps a cause I support, like now (two causes actually illegal immigration and stopping funding of war, genocide and murder), but dislike it when it is used by another side to fund wars and encourage illegal immigration. Besides it is holding the process up, I'm not such a fool as to think Americans will suddenly allow peace to break out in Ukraine or Israel by cutting off funds. The GOP does not support Russia at all. A few GOP Congressmen are disgusted with the war and it has given the speaker leverage. I support Russia in the conflict and resent my tax dollars being used to support massive corruption in Ukraine.
  19. Shut the border now or NO funds for Israel and Ukraine.
  20. I disagree with sanctions on NK and so would like to see more of these supposed shipments to help Russia out off they have ammo problems.. They remind me of the supposed Saddam WMDs (that were nonexistent) and mobile bioweapons lab (that turned out to be a caravan) presented by the fellow we have all forgotten about now, Colin Powell. God, he sold himself cheap didn't he, what a fool.
  21. I have been surprised by the claim of a ban. But I was prescribed Circadin which is sustained released melatonin from Bumrungrad. It was expensive, so after it finished I tried to buy an immediate release product in local pharmacies and on-line. No luck. I have to say it didn't work very well.
  22. Speaking for myself, I hate Thai food. I think it is vile, unpleasant to look at and unpleasant to eat. Plus it never fills me up.
  23. Israel has been robbed of any pretence it had to moral authority. The IDF is is no better than Hamas.
  24. How can you call Britain a democratic country?
  25. Here is an extraordinary article from the Guardian which commits on the recent interim judgement from ICJ and the moral dilemma it poses for the West principally the US. It is thoughtful and thought-provoking and will be interesting to see how the US handle any popular, upcoming measures which are sure to be brought before the UN, and exposes the hypocrisy in the US's pro-Israel position. Read and enjoy. https://www.theguardian.com/law/2024/jan/26/icj-gaza-decision-shores-up-rules-based-order-and-puts-west-to-test
