  1. I met a Thai girl overseas and when I retired I came to live in Thailand, she wound up her business and came to live with me here. I heard all the crap about Thai women being gold diggers etc and 18 years on I am blissfully happy. The big problem with the future is that neither you, nor anyone else, knows what is going to happen. You must make the decision on the information you have and then try to live with that decision. The only issue my partner (we are not married for various reasons, one being I already have a wife) and I have is language. I expected her English to improve over the years, it hasn't and we have irritations and misunderstandings about this, having said that, I wouldn't change her for the world and after 18 years I am still crazy in love with her (like a young teenager). So, my advice is make your choice and live, stop worrying if you are making a mistake.
  2. I had a root canal about 3 or 4 years back. The first one in my life. The dentist told me 6000 baht for the root canal, so I said ok. It cost over 30,000 baht when all was said and done, including 10000 for powdered bone. When finished the tooth was still sensitive to hot and cold. I went to another dentist in Pattaya and spent another 20,000 baht to have a Panorex and the tooth taken out. There was bone loss around the tooth and my local dentist should have taken it out, not filled it. Total outlay over 50K and I have a great big hole in my mouth. Not good value, perhaps you should stay in Oz.
  3. Sadly for the suffering public, I don't think he is capable of action unless he personally profits from the action. I don't see how he can profit much from cleaning up the air. On another note, for the first time in my life I am having trouble breathing. I'm not a smoker (weed or cigarettes), and have never had any sort of respiratory disease in my life, and I'm now having problems filling my lungs. I wonder if it is the stinking smog, pollution and bad air here.
  4. Good god, those poor people, probably homeless, or with a huge clean up job to do.
  5. Sends a message to perverts. I don't understand the trafficking charge. Trafficking is moving people across borders for exploitation. Did they take the youths to China or Burma?
  6. I don't think you can get one on a tourist visa. I think they are for residents as the name of the certificate implies. I've had several, you need one to buy a car or motorbike. Like many things about immigration, CoR's, at least at my immigration office, they have become much more difficult. It used to be a 30 minute process. Now, at my office there are reams of photocopies needed, photos, documentation about where you are residing, and it takes a minimum of 3 business days.
  7. Human trafficking? Why were they charged with trafficking, instead of proving assistance to illegal aliens? Why doesn't the headline say, "Two Bangladeshis charged with providing assistance to illegal aliens"?
  8. Gamma, obviously you 'weren't drug up in New York', so I'll explain it to you in easy to understand language. One says "have a good one" when someone is about to go to the bathroom, and to spell not out, it means have a good poo.
  9. Exciting news. Did Srettha negotiate this wonderful agreement?
  10. Rehydrated milk?....not for me, thanks.....I want to drink stuff that comes from cows, not stuff from NZ adulterated by a agri-company....I don't trust food and beverage companies based on what they do with other food and beverages.
  11. I guess the farmers have raised the wages of the cows.
  12. One wonders what the strategy is? Or if there is any sort of strategy? Hope is not a strategy.
  13. Mokwit, you really should call yourself halfwit, because you are half-witted.An Australian company holds rightist the lithium. Take your filthy prejudices and shove them.
  14. No, I'm not much of a celebrator of birthdays. I used to get more excited when I was a child, but my parents were not the types to have parties and the like for me. Having said that with my own kids, we made a big deal, well gifts parties, dinners at special restaurant when the got older...that sort of thing.
  15. Someday we will get a real assessment of the benefits and drawbacks of EVs. One that has not been written to sell more EVs, but a realistic assessment of the scale of the environmental damage done and the real benefits that EVs bring. I have not been very convinced by the arguments so far, and the 'results' of 'studies' paid for by manufacturers don't share their assumptions.
  16. Smell's like bleach.
  17. A smear by you, possibly of honourable people. Shame on you. They might believe in Thaksin, I know I do.
  18. It would be lovely to see the GDP growth plotted from 2020 with Thaksin, through the juntas, and Democrats and to see the only really bright spots were Thaksin's premiership and Yingluck's which was modest upturn after the 2007/8 financial catastrophe.
  19. Refer to myn comment to candide....NATO propaganda is strong in you isn't it?
  20. As yours is a testament to NATO's propaganda. Get real, read a bit. Even just ask yourself a single question? Ask yourself why the US is behind every conflict in the world?
  21. Putin has no plans to invade Europe, you dope. You are parroting the scaremongering which justifies the warmongering. It's all nonsense.
  22. Sadly, it's not just money. You need good teachers and teaching colleges that instruct them. You need a good syllabus to challenge the students a bit. You also need to throw all this computer and tablet rubbish out of the schools (for the under 12s at least). You can't have a decent edumacation system if it is simply to teach kids deference to their betters. Prayut's magical reforms achieved exactly nothing, but Thailand needs for its kids' sakes, to get dinosaurs like Prayut (anybody who was appointed to the Senate) totally out of the reform process otherwise you'll end up with the same old <deleted>e. My suggestion is to actually spend some time diagnosing the problems that can be solved and making trackable action plans to fix them. I'd get some experts in from Scandinavia and actually follow their advice. You ask what is wrong with Thai edumacation? Everything it seems if these message boards are correct.
